I've noticed that alot of the gaming cons take place twords the northeast or towards the west. I've been kicking the idea around in my head but wasn't sure if it would be worth the time.

How many of you guys live in the south east (GA, FL, SC, NC, AL) and would come to a gaming "con" ,I guess it would be, in jacksonville? I know there are alot of collectors in the jacksonville area and would be more then happy to rent out a conference room if there was enough interest in the idea.

So post, tell your friends, let me know, I would love to do it. I'm going to start an account over at AA and invite them as well, the more people that come, the more classic game stuff to trade right.

i'd like to see florida gamers start getting together, looks like i maybe moving back to central florida in the next year. i cant bring the boston tradegroup with me so i guess i'll have to start a new one from scratch :) i think the hard thing about florida is that people are really spread out. i could see people from daytona and orlando making it to jacksonville but you'd have a hard time with the south florida, tampa and pan handle gamers. what did homer call florida? "america's big toe" or something...

Yeah, I want to start one. I figure it would be pretty small, but who knows, there are ALOT of collectors in Jacksonville alone.

if you want any advice get in touch with me, this is what we've done here in New England- http://www.gis.net/~bertulli/

when i get myself established in central florida (orlando/daytona area) i'd be happy to host it. well thats a bit down the road, no date yet but it never hurts to get an early start on things. the great thing about having a group like this is the trading. its a lot more satisfying to trade in person than thru the mail and its nice to meet other people who share our weird hobby.

Jacksonville? As in east coast of North Carolina? I'm in Charlotte right now but I might be in the Wilmington area later this summer. I dunno.

Thats what i figure, I know there are people who live in our area that would love to have a convention closer then the cheese-steak city. I'm going to head over to those other site mentioned and check it out.

If you are talking about Jacksonville Fla. I would be interested in attending.

I would want to hold it in Jacksonville (mainly cause its close to most southern states, the place is big, its easy to get to, and I have a few friends who do AV work for a couple of hotels, so we could get the big rooms for cheap) but it doesn't seem like a who lot of people are interested so I dunno what I'm gonna do.

If you're SERIOUS about it, let me know and I'll give you a plug in Tips & Tricks. That should get a few "locals" that would not otherwise check in here in contact with you.

HI HELLO WHAT STATE THANKS

Personally I think it'd be most fair to be held in Georgia, probably Atlanta, considering it's a midpoint for most folk around 'hea.

I know around where i live (Central PA) people rent out about 2 or 3 different rec halls for "punk shows" where local bands play. I dont see why you couldnt do that and have like a video game show or something

While thats true, Like I said, I live in Jacksonville (Florida), so it would be easiest to plan it here. Plus there are A LOT of game collectors around here. No joke, I'm convinced that there is at least one copy of every game that has ever existed somewhere in this city (with maybe the exception of Video Life).

Also I have a friend that works at the HIlton, so I can get half off the conference room, and I have a friend that used to plan fan-cons for a living, which would be a great help. It seems like a good Idea, so this weekend I'm going to talk to Gina about how to go about setting this thing up.

Plus the traffic in Jax is way easier to navigate then Atlanta.

I live in the Orlando area, so a Jacksonville get together would be really great.

I just recently left the Orlando area to move to Georgia. Personally, I'd love to attend a SE con - I might even be able to make it down (boy that sounds weird to me referring to Jacksonville as down, for the past 14 years it's been "up" to me) to Jacksonville for it.

Let's get this thing going....I WOULD LOVE IT. I for one could get tons of people to go and I help make flyers...and probably even set up a booth. Seriously, we could basically get this thing going and aim for post hurricane season. If you have any questions or need me to do anything let me know! Shoot me an e-mail, I've got plenty of ideas and if we could get a few small donations we could do this thing right.

BTW all of you Charlotte, NC people..Jacksonville, FL is only like 5 or 6 hours. What better way to spend a weekend than a road trip to a game show! I also know a guy who may be able to supply w/arcade machines. Oh yeah RENT-A-CENTER rents HDTV's for like $40 for a week (and they deliver, hook it up, and pick it back up), that would be perfect for such an event to get like two to four of them for tounaments or some such thing. Plus we could probably get a small chain to give us partial sponsership (for prizes and what have you), maybe Game Force or Rhino Games?

Seeing as I'm actually in Jacksonville... Yes I'd be up for it..

In fact I'd even be glad to help get it up and running. I've got a few Friends in the DownTown VIsion Group (http://www.downtownjacksonville.org/) that might be able to help. The Prime F. Osborn III Convention Center (http://www.downtownjacksonville.org/detail/?loc_id=659&page_id=17) would be a good spot as there are a few hotels nearby and of course the Jacksonville Landing which was shown often during the SuperBowl...

Let me know..

I can also offer Web Hosting Space for free (Linux or Win)..

Jacksonville couldn't handle Super Bowl traffic, do you really think it can handle this?!?

In all seriousness, I'm in NC too (not Charlotte though) but work on Saturdays. By the time I got off work and drove down there everyone would be gone. :(

Not if it was done right and made a 2 day event! (sat & sun)

At a minimum the J'ville collectors, and anyone else who chooses to show, should get together and have a brew.

Jacksonville sounds great. I think at the least a trading party like the New England trade group does would be productive where everyone brings their dupes and maybe also a few consoles could be set up.

Yeah that would work too. You know we could see whats happening with a local bar and see about getting half of the bar reserved or something like that (depending on how many people commited to come). BTW anyone here into imports? I'll bring some for trade.
