Can't wait 'til this gets dumped. :)

Me too. I just love having different versions of Pac-Man games. The Jr. Pac-Man is even more special due to the fact that it was hardly ported to consoles at all. The only released port I have seen so far is the Atari 2600 version, and the Atari 5200 version was a prototype like this one.
Hopefully their action goes smoothly and we get to play an even better version of the game. The Atari 7800 Ms. Pac-Man already ruled.

Awesome! I love the 7800! Knowing there was another Pac-Man game out there, makes me want it :)

Let me be the first to say that I think that whole thing is some kind of hoax or prank.
All the signs are there:
-The completely clueless person who just happens to wander in with no idea what they have
-The cryptic, but not too cryptic sticker on the board that could have been applied yesterday
-The blurry, lo-res pictures
-The inability to provide any detailed info about its origins because dad doesn't want to discuss it
Earlier in the thread he was looking for info about hooking the 7800 up to his lcd tv. However, the pictures appear to me to be from a CRT computer monitor. How many 4:3 lcd tv's did they make?
I'm skeptical.

I agree with cityside75.
This seems very odd...I think it could possibly be a fake.
If it's real...cool. I'm doubtful, though.

Have to agree that it seems like a hoax. I never understood the hype about the variations of Pac-Man anyway but that's a whole different topic. This seems sketchy.

I think you guys are blowing this hoax thing out of proportion. The only released home version of Pac Man Jr. is for the 2600, and thats clearly not the 2600 version shown. How would they fake those screenshots? Even if it is a homebrew, who cares? Its still exciting.
Just my 2 cents...

There is this program called "Photoshop" that people have been using to create fake images.

Those look really clean to have been sitting in somebody's attic. Particularly the label - looks like white paper taped on; a label would've probably had rounded edges and yellowed somewhat by now.

A-men to that brother. I would should up to Communism anywhere and anywhen, especially if game prototypes were involved!

Unreleased games don't just magically materialize in your attic. Either daddy worked in the game industry or this guy is retarded.
In the first few posts, the dude is being really pushy about describing what are obviously proto boards. It's as if he knows exactly what they are but wants someone to bite the hook.

Seems to be legit. Most of the Atari Age regulars are leaning that way.

Unless it's a brand new Jr. Pac-Man homebrew. ;)

I'm not saying it can't be a homebrew, but the odds of it being a legit proto are slim. When I was reading the AA thread it had more than a few similarities to a similar thread of butter monster fame on our own forums. If this turns out to be real I will pay everyone here 2k monies myself.

Then how old is this guy's dad, 25? He had to have picked the game up after 1986. If you're going to make up a story for april fools day, at least do the math before hand.
Not to mention the guy is intentionally talking like a retard "after doing some searching here, i found that theres something called a flashback 2". Come on, who actually talks like that?
On top of that, when you google "Atari 7800" atari-age is the 5th site down, and even when you click that link it's not immediately obvious that it's connected to a forum.

We shall see.

Any fake prototype screenshots I've ever seen have always been doctored emulator screen captures. The guy's pretty good at Photoshop if he can not only flawlessly fake the graphics, but also the luminescence and glare of a television screen in the dark.
The screenshots are obviously real. If it's not a legitimate prototype, it has to be something he (or someone else) programmed.

I wonder why every screen has the same score in the upper left corner "45450". Perhaps its the high score, but where's the regular score then? I guess if it's really a prototype it's possible the scoring isn't working yet, but I'll chalk it up as another oddity about the whole thing.
Edit - I suppose it could just be running in attract mode too. I've already put too much thought into this, time for bed.

I was thinking a do it in Photoshop and run video out to a TV kind of thing. But yeah there are 100 ways to do it.
