Anyone been the last 2 years? I haven't been since the "cancellation" - and I hear it's been tragic the last while.
The opportunity's come to go again this year - is it worth it? (I just have to pay airfare)

Yea I'm looking forward to the supposed revival. From what i hear its going to actually be open to the public not that I'll find the time to get there but cool none the less.

I've heard the same things too but I haven't been playing close attention since I know I won't be going.

The last couple shows were pretty "meh." The Penny Arcade Expo in Seattle has stolen its thunder.

Agreed. PAX is now the number one video game show in North America. It's the most fan friendly and(from what I hear) the most fun overall. The ESA has noticed how underwhelmed people have become with the new E3 so perhaps thats why they are finally deciding to change it back.
Either way, the cool thing is that I'll be able to watch the entire Microsoft E3 press conference from Xbox live instead of reading about it online. I wonder if Sony and Nintendo offer the same thing on their consoles. If so that would be cool for every gamer.

It's still not technically going to be open to the public. You still have to have a connection to the industry, although given past practice, that includes pretty much any kind of blog, game store, fake developer you make up, etc...

Funny that they downsized it for "economic reasons" and now, during a bear market, enough companies have decided they really needed the exposure to give it a comeback.

Come on skaar, you know you want all the free shwag. I still have the DS case you got from E3 a few years back.

Well the swag is always a prime motivator. I'll probably go regardless - but I'd still like to know wtf I can expect.
Sadly it looks like I won't be able to bring anyone with this time - the whole industry ID thing makes it tricky.

Will you be attending any of the press conferences from Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo tomorrow and Tuesday?

E3 doesn't creat much buzz unless it has to do with new hardware. The new psp will not save the show this year.

It's complicated. I'm pretty much riding shotgun these days - I'm just here for the games and the parties ;-)
But not the MS event because the people with the passes aren't here yet! Lame!

Microsoft's entire press conference just created a ton of buzz. Hopefully you got to watch it. I'll be watching Sony and Nintendo's conferences tomorrow to see what kind of buzz they can stir up.
