sorry if theres another place to post this but there are too many pages of thread to read them all....
i was just watching mxc tonight on spike they were doing video game guys....
well it went to the hosts playing a game.....this game looks like a game ive been trying to find for years...i used to play it in the arcade mid-late 80's and had it for nintendo(which sadly went to other family). in the game you played a ninjalike character i think was a girl(not really sure) this ninja could jump very high and far(it kinda seemed like flying almost). the game was sort of a side scroller but you were on a very large rectangle like level...you could go up,down/side to side...the background i kind of remember was a really large wall with places to land and water covering most/all the bottom of the level.....the little bit i saw on tv was a forest(tall trees, branches to land on). you threw chinese stars at other ninjas and i swear there was some kind of power up but thats really all i remember. i think the name of the game was 'a name' but its kind of a blur.
if anybody has a clue please let me know

Sounds strikingly like 'The Legend of Kage'. Take a look at some gameplay and see if this resuscitates any memories: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E82F45F4_Y4

Perhaps you're thinking of The Legend of Kage (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legend_of_Kage)?

EDIT: Drixxel beat me to it. Oh well, enjoy the wikipedia link.

I've always dug Legend of Kage, although it's a game I've generally seen get thrashed most of the time (who couldn't love those soaring jumps?). Glad to hear you've found it again.

I just saw the DS version of the game last night at Gamecrazy, and I was like "WTF is this game"

Yeah the DS version seems wrong, from what little I've emulated of it. I'm gonna give it another chance to see if I should buy it though.

Legend of Kage got a sequel, called "Demon Sword" on NES, and "Fudou Myouou Den" on the Famicom. The NES version got cut down something terrible though.

If you like high-jumping ninja games, you could also check out Ninja Spirit on arcade / Amiga / TurboGrafx-16 (it's also on GB but only as an import).

Kage 2 on the DS is excellent, give it more playtime. The first few levels are a little bland, but things pick up by Stage 4. There's unlockables too, like harder difficulties and a boss rush mode.
