It's getting sooo close now, who plans on going Live?
The DP forums are going to need a Live forum here shortly, that is if anyone else but me is planning on doing it :?

I work for the big MS and haven't been able to sneak out with a beta kit! So, I guess I have to wait until launch. Oh well, I have the PS2 NA to keep me company.

I will be for sure. Since it's released on my BDay I'm hoping it's a present from my wife :-)

Have you seen the cheesy commercial they are playing at TpysRUS? It was also downloadable online. Pure cheese. I'll get it, but not because of that commercial.

@IGotTheDot, is your signature from playing PSO? If so then, lmao.
It's good to see that there are at least 3 other people looking forward to it =/
I guess i'm jumping the gun a bit as it is still 2 months away. I think it's looking more, and more like I made the right decision in going with the Xbox Live plan though.
Broadband only should keep games speedy, and communiating with the headset should be da bomb. Hopefully you guys will still be around when I get it, I need someone to play =/

I'm definitely playing. So far the PS2 NA isn't doing it for me.

i dont have an xbox yet, but i dont see anything too great to play online. i have the ps2 adaptor and its the same story, nothing to play so far. im waiting for my free tmb: online, that should be at least somewhat fun online. i dont think online will be too good for either company until sometime next year.

Xbox makes you pay for basic service like cable TV.. I've got enough bills and PC gaming has aready set the FREE play precidence for most of the games. Microsoft is just looking for another way to get more of my money.. sorry, ain't going to happen.
When I get an Xbox it will be for under $100, will have a mod chip within a week and play mostly MAME and dvd copies.. The only people that will make money off my purchase will be the guy at the flee market/pawn shop..

@tritoch
The only problem I have with Sony is that they don't have a dedicated infastructure, and no true backbone to the whole thing. I know that alot of people got pissed that the Xbox Live plan is only broadband, but hell, people are already raising hell about 56kers on the ps2 setup.
It might seem discriminating, but realistically, games are just getting to graphically intense for ole 56k.
@butta, what about Tribes: Aerial Assault? That looks like it will be pretty cool. Plus once FFXI comes, i'm sure you will be wetting your pants, or at least others will :), but I don't care for FF, so....
I'm looking forward to Mech Assault, Unreal Tournament, PSO, Star Wars Galaxies, Battlefield 1942, Halo 2 "mmmmmmmmmmmm", and others, especially the infamous Project Ego , but that one ain't due for a while.
It's gonna be happy happy, joy joy

nah, FF games dont really do it for me, so i wont be getting that one, especially with the monthly fee. and FPS's are way better on the pc, so i wont be playing those online with the ps2 or xbox. only thing im looking forward to right now is tmb: online and auto modellista. and marvel vs capcom 2 if its online.

I hear ya, fps are best on PC, but unfortunatly me, and PC's are not very good friends, it tends to disagree with me far too often.
What about Halo 2 though?! Come on now, I know you gots to wanna try that 1!

I was one of the lucky few to get into the beta program & my Live kit will be here Monday.
I think it'll definitely be better than what PS2 has going on with their narrow/broadband mix, but I already have a high-speed connection so that cost isn't a factor to me.

Jaybird, I will be hooked up on Monday too. I will contact you with my ID if you are interested in setting up a game. I'm not that into NFL games though.

Please do that congobongo. It looks like the 2 NFL games (Fever & NFL2k3) & Revolt will be all we'll have to choose from right now.
I really like Fever, so I'm pretty excited about getting online & playing some guys.

I posted this on another board, but I thought you guys would get a kick out of reading it (if you had time):
If you're at all squemish, please don't read this horror story:
On September 4th at 7:23 p.m., after countless surveys & emails, I finally got the "We Want You" email from the beta team that contained my link to order the kit.
On September 4th at 7:25 p.m., I gleefully ordered my kit.
Two days pass and I get an email saying my order has been processed & is on its way. No UPS trackign number, though. Later that day I get a link to the beta boards & find out you can use a reference number to find the tracking number on the UPS website.
I track it & find out it's to be delivered Tuesday, September 10th. I wake up on Monday & check the status & lo & behold, it's going to arrive early! It'll be here today (September 9th)!
Unfortunately, I have to go to work 8-5, but assign my wife the task of waiting for the package. I'm at work all day watching the UPS website & waiting for my wife to call.
At 4:00 p.m. that evening, I check the site to find out it was delivered at 12:18 to my front door. I call my wife to see why she didn't call & she says there's no package anywhere. She goes to the neighbors house, looks in the bushes, but no package is to be found.
I'm asking myself "Why didn't they knock to get a signature?" So I pick up the phone for the first of over 50 calls I'll make over the next 3 days and dial 1-800-PICK-UPS.
They tell me I need to contact the shipper & have them file a trace on the package. So I call 1-800-MY-XBOX and they tell me they used eCompanyStore & for me to call them. I call eCompanyStore & tell them what the situation is & they say they'll file a trace.
They next day (Tuesday the 10th) I call UPS to see if the trace was filed. It wasn't. The gods bless me & I actually get someone nice who lets me put the trace on myself (apparently this is a no-no in UPS land). The trace will take up to 2 weeks to be completed.
I then call eCompanyStore & let them have it. They won't ship another kit to replace the lost one. I call the Xbox Live team. No dice. I'm told to wait out the trace.
On Wednesday September 11, I get an email from eCompanyStore with the UPS tracking number for the package that was supposedly delivered 2 days earlier! YeeHoo! They're on the ball!
That evening I send out a heartfelt plea to the Xbox Live team to help me out. I tell them the problems I'm having with eCompanyStore. I plead that they don't just give me the company line.
That night they write back & tell me to contact eCompanyStore for any problems I'm having. Thanks, guys.
On Thurday, September 12 I go to my local UPS site to ship a package. I ask them about the situation. They get on the phone & have me sign a piece of paper & tell me someone will call me the next day.
I get the call the next day & they tell me the driver followed up (the aforementioned trace) and talked to me & we agreed the package was lost. I never talked to the driver nor did he ever come by my house. They say they'll issue eCompanyStore a refund.
About the time this was happening, eCompanyStore calls my house & tells my wife they're shipping out another package. It will be here Monday (tomorrow).
So what do you guys think? Did the UPS driver steal my kit? Will he steal my second kit tomorrow? Should I start killing people?
If you've made it this far in reading, please tell me you feel my pain.

I recently had a really bad experience with UPS that got into package tracing. Long story short, I had a mother load of 3 consoles (5200, TG16 w/booster, nes, power base converter, etc.) coming via UPS. The package was apparently delivered to me in the flesh. Too bad I was on vacation! Anyway, to my relief, the package mysteriously turned up on my step two weeks later. Lesson learned though: if you have a choice don't use UPS. They don't need a signature anymore!

Yep, even before this I thought they were idiots.
I've had three packages in the last 2 years sent to Arizona by UPS. Unfortunately, I live in Arkansas. (AR is not Arizona!)
Last week I talked to no less than 4 UPS reps who read back "AR" as Arizona to me. I can't believe they'd hire someone to who doesn't even know the state's abbreviations.
At least I can sleep at night knowing my UPS guy is enjoying my beta kit.

Hey congobongo,
My Xbox Gamertag is "Jaybird", so try to add me to your friend list so we can hook up.
I've played a couple of games of Fever so far & it's really fun.
Last game I played I was 24-21 & the other guy had the ball with under a minute left. He threw 1 incomplete pass & I sacked him twice to push it to 4th and 28 on his one yard line. He then threw an incomplete pass on 4th down to give me the ball back with under 30 seconds.
He then quit the game.
I don't know how many of these instances I can take before I start throwing my controller into the T.V. Very frustrating, but hopefully they can fix that before Live goes live.
