Hi all,

Not sure how many of you are familiar with gamesTM magazine in the UK... We've been going for about 7 years and have always had a dedicated 30 page Retro section in the back.

We've recently started a regular collector's feature within that section where we profile one rare or collectible game and interview someone who happens to own it.

With that in mind, is there anyone here who would like to feature in future issues of the mag? I'm looking for anyone who owns a cool collectible game and is willing to answer a few questions and have their photo appear alongside them.

If you'd like to be involved then please email or PM explaining what game you own that you'd like us to cover. ALSO: If you know anyone in the real world who would like to show off their prized possession then please let them know about the magazine...

Many thanks,

Ash

Big fan here from London.

Unfortunately I do not have a sizeable collection here but I know of a few Brits on here that do have amazing ones. Will PM them and get them to get in touch - Just in case they have not seen this post.

Also, does it have to be a Brit or is a French guy also acceptable? :) I have been DREAMING of the time when a magazine would write a proper interview/article about Adol and his worldclass collection.

Hi there,

It can be anyone from around the world, yes.

We're no longer covering complete collections, however. We did that for about five years and now we've changed the feature to cover only one game at a time. That way we can cover it in more depth.

You should still talk to Adol. He's insane - er, I mean, a devout collector!

a "devout" collector!

That and insane don't cover it methinks.

Edit: Either way I don't think I have anything too much to contribute. Most of my stuff is pretty common I don't have anything above a rarity 7.

so it must be a collectable game, can't be a collectable machine, like my Sega Teradrive:

I always wanted to talk about the 4 Odyssey games from 1973, rarity approx 10 people in the world who have these:

Too bad I don't have anything all that rare. I do have a friend or two I can get in touch with though :).

I agree with that statement.

By the way, where is Adol? I don't remember seeing him around recently.

I love GamesTM. I plan on subscribing again when I move to the UK in August.

I don't know how or why Games(tm) ended up being distributed in a College bookstore in Virginia, but I used to love reading it. It struck the perfect balance between new and retro games, and it was really interesting to read about the British gaming scene. I used to post on the Games(tm) message boards before they went under, too.

I don't have a particular game worth bragging about, but several weeks ago I wrote a thread about Soviet-era Russian home computer games from the mid-80's for the BK-0010. People might find an article about that interesting.

What's the most upsetting to me is that I can go into any Barnes and Noble and find the latest Games™ Magazine, but it's next to impossible to ever find the latest Retro Gamer. I hardly ever buy any new system games anymore, so I'd like a magazine that's all retro. But it's so damn hard to find a location that'll carry it month to month. I usually settle on Games™ if it's got some interesting stuff in the retro section.

It used to be owned by another publisher, but when the magazine was sold, the old boards went down. That's probably what you are referring to. The new boards have been up for a couple of years though

I don't know what the sales figures are like, but I would say GamesTM is amongst one of the more popular multi-format mags out there for gamers in the UK. It's rivals include CVG, EDGE, and GamesMaster. It's aimed at the more mature demographic the same as EDGE, so that generally means twenty or thirty somethings who're old enough to still have owned a NES or Master System and have proressed from there.

It also features a very popular retro section in the back of the magazine, as well as this Collector's Corner feature - Which as Ash says, used to feature entire collections before they removed the feature, but they've recently decided to bring it back due to popular demand but focus more on one specific game rather than an entire collection
