My friend says he used a y cable into his genesis instead of the rf adapter and it worked...

I said thats weird and asked him how a y cable can split the audio and video so easily...

can this be done? is it actually that easy? or is he on crack and and this is the reason rf modulators exsist?

It's either a misunderstanding or he's on crack, and maybe some LSD too.

Yeah it doesn't work this way. There is only one similar solution, which may not work on the Genesis, but doesn't require you to use an RF modulator or RF adaptor... If you can find an RCA male to Coaxial Cable Female bullet connector, it'll turn that RCA RF jack on the back of your system to a coaxial cable, and you can plug it directly into the back of your TV. I use this on my Atari, but the picture could be a lot better. I really need to get a proper RF adaptor for the Atari, as I'm sure it would look better.

I don't think this works on any later consoles, and I don't feel like unplugging my Atari and trying this on a NES or SNES right now. Anyway, yeah that dude's on crack.

thats what i thought too...

anyways how about this plug a regular rca cable into the back of the genesis straight to the tv, I know the video will work, but the audio wont...

then, plug your genesis's front audio headjack into your stero... how well will this work? I think i tried this back when i was like 13 and it sounded like shit... but cant remember for sure... anyone else?
