Quite a while ago I figured out that the original arcade version of Ghosts'n Goblins, Makaimura, allowed the player to put in more than 9 coins (Ghouls'n Ghosts has a 9 coin limit, like Strider).
More than 255, as well.
And more than 999.
Today, I sat down, and since I felt lazy, I decided to press those two coin-in keys (5 and 6) to AT LEAST 9999 credits, to see if it would crash the machine or something (if you know anything about hexadecimal and binary, though, you'd know that the next number of credits which could possibly be the maximum is 65,536).
Anyways, here is the only screenshot in existence showing the coin counter of Makaimura HIGHER than the highscore counter:

10001 coins, by the way, translates into $2,500.25--more than enough to buy yourself a machine, and 10001 coins will certainly overflow the machine's coin drawer many times over.
