It is getting to be that time of the year again. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for a baseball game for the DS or GBA. It does not have to be licensed but I would like it to keep season stats. Just to give you an idea of what I would like to see. Maybe Baseball Stars (NGPC), mixed with World Series baseball for the Genesis. Man there was nothing more satisfying then Kevin Mitchell (for the reds) ending the season with close to 500 home runs. I love that game.

If anyone could point me to a thread that would be awesome as well.

Anything?

MLB Power Pros (DS) is the only thing I can think of that is/was decent. Everything else I've tried was crap.

Agreed.

I've got MLB Power Pros and though its a fun game, there is no way to play an entire season, its either a single game, or you can play a playoff to World Series post season (where you play as one team, the others are simulated).

Really? That sucks :( The PS2 version is the deepest baseball game I've ever played. Don't let the cute graphics fool you.

Baseball Advance for the GBA is one of the awesomest games i ever played. i cannot recommend this fun game more. (it is licensed, btw) it has a perfect balance for simplicity and challenge. so very fun.

I second Baseball Advance. Aside from the digitized graphics (why Sega, why?!) the game is excellent.

MLB Power Pros for the DS was a huge letdown. it plays well, but it's just a gutted version of its console brethren. No season mode, seriously Konami? One of the few DS games I've ever traded in.

Thanks for the recommendations. I think i will wind up getting both. I am going to try to get past the sudo realistic graphics of baseball advance. It just never works real well on a handheld.... BUT.... gameplay will outweigh that. So we will see how it goes. Thanks again and GO REDS!

You just described 95% of all games that appear on both a console and a handheld.

I like MLB Power Pros 2008 on the DS but agree no season play mode definitely makes it an inferior version to an extent. I also found hitting in it to be harder than the PS2 version. I have Baseball Advance and recommend that...it does have season stat tracking. I play as the Pirates...too bad there's only one player on the Pirates roster in that game that is still with the Pirates in real-life (Jack Wilson). Everyone else has since either retired or moved on to a different team.

All-Star Baseball 2004 for the GBA is an excellent game as well. It has official teams, players, and stadiums. As well as a full season mode. Really worth checking out.
