It is magnificent.

It's 7 feet wide. It needs nothing more than time. You could always take a picture of a DSi and go into an art program, set it to the highest zoom rate possible until you can see each pixel. That'd make it simpler for you as each pixel represents a single block.

Yeah, it doesn't take any talent to do that

BTW, the method you describe works for 2D objects, but in case you didn't notice, this model....isn't. But since it takes nothing more than time, I'm sure you can knock a few out in between posts.

Damn that's impressive. I didn't go to the website so it might say there but I wonder how long it took to make that.

I think for things of that scale, they have computer software make up instructions for them to follow. I'm pretty sure that's how they made all that stuff for the times square tru.

That guy states he does it all 'freehand'.

"Lego Certified Professional"... ouch. I mean I'm sure he gets paid really well to do things like this, but that just sounds so lame. And speaking of lame, that construction video left a lot to be desired.

Still, quite impressive. A bit less so since it used a skeleton, but still cool.

Metal frames are for wussies. Kidding.

Something tells me Lego has a secret 3D scanning/CAD program for these things. For all the items like this Lego is commisioned to do, it would only make sense.
