Are the Zelda CDI games really worth the extreme prices on eBay? I was looking forward to getting them until I searched them up...

You know, the Angry Video Game Nerd did a review for them a while back. They looked horrendous. The high price is due to the fact that there are so few copies, the games themselves certainly don't look like they're worth the coin.

Not even a penny. I remember playing it when they first came out and I couldn't stand the layout. The acting sucks and the artwork is even worse. If you're a Zelda completionist then I guess it's up to you. Other than that it's not worth the going rate.

Horrible...horrible games.

Sorry for the misunderstanding but I meant in collectability. I think people are just milking them for every penny.

It says in the rarity guide, 20 dollars complete. A fair amount short of the hundreds of dollars on eBay

They've been going up in price due to their unfortunate popularity of being spoofed on Youtube. They've been kind of an "internet celebrity" as of late. Once people get bored of them, they'll move on to something else, and the price will go down.

Personally, I wouldn't spend a dime on the titles as I've always been critical of the CD-I releases. I'd wait to see if you could find them at a tag sale/flea market/garbage dump. I think anyone that's selling them for a buttload should be take out back and beaten.

Around a year ago a buddy back in the military bought a nice and mint CD-I collection including a CD-I for around $140 total. Granted, that's including a mint system in the box and everything with it in perfect shape. Now that's a fair price. For collectability reasons, I'm sticking with "not worth the asking rate" as my answer.

They're one of the current gaming cash cows lately, just like FFVII, Silent Hill and Bounty Bob Strikes Back on the Atari 5200 are/were, those are all coming down in price slowly and these titles will come down and become more reasonable after a while too.

I played these games both....and beat them, yes I beat them and guess what.... I liked them.

Some decent platforming if you ask me.

One last secret... I actually beat them both more than once, hehe. Imo, they are worth it and very much playable, I don't get why people have such a hard time with these games. Not nearly as trashy as they are made out to be, now "Kether", that was trash!

They are certainly not rare, at least the first two aren't. Link Faces of Evil was even a pack-in game with the CD-i 450 system for a year or so. The first two are ok games, while Zelda's Adventure is pure crap. There are much rarer games on the CD-i and much better games for that matter. I would pass unless you absolutely have to have every game related however tangentially to Zelda.

I guess there are other options...

*cough cough* ISO's *cough*

This price gouging is really making collecting harder and harder unless you luck into some amazing find in the wild. If these prices continue the video game collecting hobby will be destroyed and will have to reset like the economy should.

Wand of Gamelon and Faces of Evil aren't worth much. Zelda's Adventure has always sold for quite a bit. I've got the first two but have not talked myself into throwing money at Zelda's Adventure.

What Trebuken said. If you're paying more than $30 for the first two titles you got taken for a ride sonnn

Zelda's Adventure looks insanely bad to me; I wouldn't buy it at any price.

But the other two games I think are actually halfway decent. I think I have more fun with them than with the original Zelda games on NES, at any rate.
