I liked argageddons story mode and single player, but I liked WORMS multiplayer.
Armageddon had too many big weapons and the games didnt last as long.
the key is being good at ninja rope.

I owned the PSX version, and own presently the Jaguar version. The PSX version is better since you can save, other than that the games are identical, even the button config on the Jag version is for X,O,Square, and Triangle...weird its like they put the PSX code on the Jag cart.
I love Worms, as I usually like most turn based strategy games, and its definitely better with more people. I love the infinite amount of stages the game can produce, that really increases replayability. My favorite weapon is Dynamite or Kamikazee :-D Dynamite is great if just to see how far you can launch a WORM LOL

Well I just played 4 games and I only won 1. how pathetic, I couldnt fire my bazooka accurately and kept hitting myself or my guys with the gernades. I did have a pretty elaborate tunnel system going on one of the matches.

Worms is the best strategy game series ever. But Worms Blast is a festering pile of monkey shit. Don't get it, no matter how tempting the $19.99 clearance tags are. Trust me. It's tedious and frustrating like no other Bust a Move knockoff.

My favorite is Worms 2. I still play it all the time with a few friends online. It's VERY challenging in artillery mode where you can't move your worms at all :) I'm REALLY awaiting Worms 3D too....

I used to play WORMS Armegeddon like crazy. Thats an awesome game. I was actually pretty good at the game too. I didn't play it in multiplayer because no one wanted to play with me. I thought the single player was good though.

I still remember playing the original worms on my first computer back in 96....ah those were the days... I'm still a fan of the original

Worms World Party: Dreamcast. Pick blast zone, jack up the health to 200, and just go nuts. Plus, the game is always on sudden death in this mode so you have to keep moving. So many nights gone by with this one...

I haven't played Worms since it ran on a 386 and was called "Scorched Earth", but I did pick up a copy of Worms World Party for Playstation not too long ago. I look forward to renewed destruction.

I spent many hours at college playing four player Worms World Party on the Dreamcast.
If you've got an old computer lying around, look for Liero. It's a free game. The basic premise is one-on-one real time worm combat. It's addicting as all hell, probably because of the really fast pace.

I second David's emotion; Worms Blast was an awful game. The real Worms games, I love dearly, and I've always been saddened that the series has never moved beyond cult status in the States, while it's an all-time best-seller in the UK. What do the Brits know that Joe Sixpack doesn't?
I'm nervous about the upcoming Worms 3D; I know it's not a crisis of Castlevania proportions, but Worms/Armageddon/World Party just play so damn well in 2D. Yes, Hogs of War (which was Worms 3D, except with pigs) was good fun, but still, I want to keep my expectations low.
Do you guys play with or without the ninja rope, and the infinite methods of abusing its power? Everything I ever read about Worms 2 (the first online PC version) ranted about how most online sessions degenerated into ninja-rope trickery.

With ninja rope. Always. I can cross a map in one turn. Even maps that aren't caves. I was playing a game on a fortress map once, which consisted of two "forts" separated by a very large expanse of water. On my first turn, I ninja roped straight up in the air, built momentum leftward, released the rope, flew over the lake, then carefully refired the rope in mid air and attached to the other fort. Everyone was like "WHAT THE HELL???" Good times.

Are there any weapons that you just never use anyway, just because their almost worthless? I haven't found a truly great use for Girders yet, I'd rather just shoot off a weapon at someone. How are Girders used effectively??? Also, I don't use Surrender :P

Girders are used for "dark side" tactics around sudden death time. You dig a cavern with the blow torch, prefereably on fairly high ground, and away from enemies. Then you close up the hole nice and thick with girders. They can also be used as shields out in the open, but it's tough to get a good placement. You can also stick one up for a ninja rope swinging point.

After reading this thread, I picked up Worms World Party for GBA for $20, new. It's fun so far, and I've only played the "quick match" option. I think I will consider it a good buy. (I love my afterburnered GBA.)

SEE all you have to do is talk about it and people are instantly addicted. Girders are best used as ninja rope platforms.
I also like in armageddon that you can fire ninja rope while in the air....BIG PLUS.
I highely reccomend team Buddies for all you worms fans AND hogs of war is like 3d worms.....both are for playstation

You guys obviously don't play worms the hardcore masochistic way like me and my friends do :)
Here's what we set the options to in Worms 2:
Artillery mode (No moving)
No Ninja Ropes
No Homing Missile
No Sudden Death
No Timer
No Airstrikes
No Napalm Strikes
The only weapons you get are the standards (pistol, shotgun, uzi, grenade, bazooka, mortar, cluster grenade x 3, dynamite x 1, mines, the punches, bat x 1) and whatever boxes fall, and the only way you'll get boxes at all is if you waste one of your three transports to get em :) Let me tell you...those games get INTERESTING. You have to take some WILD shots to obliterate the enemy! Or do all sorts of crazy shit like tunelling thru half a level with the blowtorch to get to a decent shot. Lately, we've been playing in the caverns rather than the open air too.....much harder to take long shots :)
And girders are the end of the game last ditch shot blockers in our games. You either put them where the other guy can't fire without tunneling thru em, or you use them as backboards to bounce your grenades off of into his hidey hole! Such fun!

Interesting, maxlords. Once you set those options, you're basically back to the way the game was played when it was called, that's right, SCORCHED EARTH. ph34r my d34th'5 h34d!

Well just played 4 more games tonight, I won the first one and lost the next 3, stupid computers. I used to be good at the game, but now I just suck. Aw well I'll have to open that copy of Dark Cloud 2 that I bought last month and start playing that.
Stupid Worms.... >:(
