what modern systems are you collecting for?

I'm doing Wii-PC

it's the perfect combo for the gamer who wants the best of everything that all the modern systems have to offer, without breaking the bank to experience it!

why are you doing it?

Wii, PC, and DS. I plan on picking up a 60 gig ps3 at some point and then getting a 360 at some point as well.

I chose all, but I don't really collect for PC, I just occasionally buy a game for PC if it's not available on a console. I do "collect" for Wii, DS, PS3 and 360 though, although I'm not aiming for any complete sets. I'm just getting the games I like to play or think are somehow special.

I buy for all systems, because invariably, good original games come out exclusive to each one. I don't exactly buy every release for every system, but I grab a game here and there for each one.

I collect for the 360 but I'll buy a good game for any system.

i have a 360 and a wii. At this point i wouldnt say im collecting 360 as much as im rather buying what i want to play.
My wife bought a wii but really i costanzas it.

i am curious however, how will these modern cosoles be judged in value with all the arcade games videos, add-ons,etc on their hard drives? will one console have better resale value because it has a ton of game add-ons, over one that has alot of tv shows on its hard drive?

You're missing the DS and PSP.

The closest to real 'collecting' I do is with the DS and the 360. The other ones I get games that I want (which is usually more than one can play anyways, so I guess that could be considered collecting as well).

PS3 primarily. I was a 360 fanboy until I bought my PS3 a year ago. Now I power on my 360 maybe once a month, whereas my PS3 gets used for hours everyday. Haven't touched my Wii in months (Haven't bought a game for that in over a year).

The fricken PS2 was also forgotten.

I'm pretty homo-gay for PC, but I kind of also buy games on PS3, 360 and PSP.

Still collecting PS2, too. Try as I might, I just can't seem to pick up every last game that I want because I inevitably wind up finding out about another game I need to check out.

I buy games for all systems except PS3, which I don't own yet and PC.

You should have made the poll allow users to choose multiple items ;)

PS3 & Wii.Primarily the PS3, but I'll pick up a Wii game every now and again. Although I don't think I own more than a dozen titles each for either.

I own a G4 Mac (which is not a gaming machine) and only 2 Blizzard games, so I won't count it. I'll probably get in on 360 collecting later in it's life span, when I feel a little better about it's stability.

So yeah, that's it.

roushimsx how many ps2 games are you at? I'm around 1,032, with 15 variants added to that. So close to 1,050 i guess... :)

456 not including duplicates (so maybe 470ish?). I said before that I didn't think I'd ever hit 450, but that's come and gone. I think realistically I'm going to cap out at around 500. Maybe maybe MAYBE 525.

Who knows? :)

wii, ps3, 360, ds and psp. for the life of me, i just cant do pc gaming. it costs less to buy all the systems than it does to upgrade your pc every 5 minutes. and i will take a controller over a keyboard and mouse any day.

Not really true. PC hardware and game development has been at a point for the last two years or so where it's extremely easy to built an inexpensive PC that can handle pretty much any game you throw at it. Blame ATi and Nvidia for pushing the power of graphics cards through the roof while developers look to focus on developing for lesser-powered consoles instead.

You can pick up a fairly decent PC for under $500 that'll handle Crysis just fine, let alone any game that came out beforehand (within reason; silly OS and hardware compatibility issues aside) and pretty much anything since. You'll always have shitty ports regardless of the system, so while you might get hosed on something like Bully, you get a boost on games like Fallout 3 and Far Cry 2.

Also, a gamepad is a better controller for a lot of games, but nothing tops the ol' mouse and keyboard for first/third person shooters and real time strategy games. I do miss analog movement when I play on my PC, though (which is why I stick to the console versions of Splinter Cell).

If you don't like fps/tps/rts/point and click adventure/mmorpgs then yea, the pc probably isn't the best platform to be playing on...but otherwise, it's the bee's knees. It's also a great place for hardcore race sims (Kaemmer's race sims, live for speed, SimBin's racing series, etc) and flight sims (MS Flight Sim, X Plane). Yum!

Nowadays, PC games generally have good gamepad support when needed, and there are lots of great USB controllers available, so it's really not an issue anymore.

After doing the Gamecube, I decided no way to try for the Wii :p

The DS, though I don't focus on it. I also get PC games, but not really anything current because my PC isn't powerful enough to play them. I mostly focus on older stuff.

I'm doing Wii, DS and a little PSP here and there. Going all in at this point is just too cost prohibitive... I'll take a whack at PS3 and 360 when they are no longer current and hopefully, much cheaper.

I do Wii, 360, PS3, DS and PSP. With the exception of turn-based strategy games like Civ or Football Manager, I've never been a PC gamer (though I'm sorely tempted by EVE Online purely because of its resemblence to Elite). If I had to put the systems I collect for in order, it'd probably go 360-DS-PSP-Wii-PS3. PS2 would've ranked way ahead of the 360 12 months ago, but I've eased well back on collecting for that, only going for the big, expensive series like SMT.

I don't collect anything this gen (I have a Wii & 360). I joined Gamefly so I haven't bought a new game in months. I've sold off most of my 360 games I've finished, and I've sold a couple of Wii games as well. This is the first generation where I've been actively selling my "newer" games, and after two years I still haven't bought a full-priced retail game for my 360. I just have no interest in having a "library" for these systems - I can't even bring myself to spend money to buy the games in the first place, let alone collect.

just 360 for me.

i'd collect for the others if i had them, but i won't be forking over the cash for either one anytime soon.

my pc is too outdated to play anything new on (newest game that i can run respectably is ut04).

I wouldn't mind owning a ps3, but I am slowly filling up my house with games, hehehe.

I am mainly 360 and pc. I don't really collect pc, I just randomly buy deals when they spring up

PS3, PSP, and DS.

I don't buy games that I won't end up liking though. So with the PS3, I don't think I can really call it much "collecting" as I only have 13 games as I really don't like many games on the system(and two of those games I really don't like at all.) With the PSP I have 41 games and the DS I have 26 games.

There are a couple new games I'd like to get for the PSP and DS that are already currently out, but since they've had some pretty poor sales, I don't think I'll have to wait too long for their prices to drop to 19.99. I have games I own that I've yet to play, so no need to rush on picking others up at full price. Phantasy Star Portable had one week of decent sales. I'm going to pick up the game, but have no problem waiting to buy a game that most people have no interest in because it's no longer a big name franchise as most people outside of RPG fans or those who don't like games before the PSX are really the only ones who know of the Phantasy Star series(even PSOv1/v2, PSO 1 and 2, PSO 3, and both PSU games sold badly and those are DC/GC/PS2/PC/X360.)

I collect for the PSP... I'm at 301 games for the system and counting, but it's not on your poll, so I guess it doesn't count :(

Wii and 360. I also have a good PC for games now so I will get stuff for PC for the first time in 5 years. I'd really like to get a PS3 just to play Kingdom Hearts 3.

360 is my vise.

Up to 637 games played/owned (includes arcade) according to xbox.com.

That doesn't include the variants of titles either.
