I got an email yesterday that Gamegavel was closing down and was for sale.

I just got an email today that Gamegavel was purchased by CTCW, and that Mike Kennedy was going to merge the two sites.

I have dealt with both Jason Hicks and with Mike Kennedy, and I have used both their sites (though not as often as I would have liked). While I hate to see Gamegavel go, I do think a merger of the two sites is a good idea and will also make them better suited to take on ebay.

Anyhow, props to both. Thanks for doing what you do.

Yeah, I saw the email. Who are the deadbeats who aren't paying their fees on CTCW? Come on, people.

This also really upset me as well.

Are you guys serious here? :)

Certainly so as you are working hard to create a community built on trust and honestly, while those people that are refusing to pay are compromising this fact. If they use a service that has a fee it seems only reasonable to expect them to pay. Does it not?

...those people that are refusing to pay are compromising this fact.

I don't really think that sellers are REFUSING to pay, but perhaps a system like ebay's, where you're automatically charged your fees monthly wouldn't be so bad. I have absolutely no idea just how difficult it would be to implement that, however. It's most likely just slipping people's minds.

Good. I wasn't sure if you were upset of me publically asking for people to pay thier miniscule (spelling?) fees :)

They can't forget :) Bill goes out on the 1st and then on the 15th and then every other day until I get tired of doing it :) What is happening is people with a $2 balance for example just leave and don't come back. Kind of funny.

I am hoping that zeroing out all accounts at the end of April will bring things back to a good starting point. Remember, there are no selling fees through the end of the month so a good time to test drive the site for some of you who still can't pull yourself away from Ebay :) As I said, April 30th all accounts will be reset to $0 so have fun with some free listings for the balance of the month.

Hey Mike,

I got your email as well. It's not fair that people are not paying you...but does that apply to those with free forever selling accounts? I could donate if you like (monthly), but I hope I'm not one of those guys. I really love your site and don't want to be a hindrance.

Also, you mention that all seller accounts will reset to $0...does that mean that the free selling this for some sellers will dissapear?

You are not one of them don't worry and no donations needed, but thanks :) Not sure what you are asking about me zeroing out the fees. Basically, anyone with any fees will have their account credited to $0 (a gift from yours truly). We will start May 1 all from scratch. If any of you got in early with the free account deals none of this really concerns you :)

The free listings/sales promotion is going this month - so anyone can run free auctions to try the site out.
