Hello,

I have recently picked up a Model 1 Sega CD. However I can not use it unless I get a Power supply for it.

I am looking for a model 1602 Sega Genesis/Sega CD power supply.

The rating on this power supply is 9V DC 1.2A. Polarity is center negative.

You may check out my trade list here (http://homepage.mac.com/msc1983/fsortrade.html). I will also be willing to buy it if I do not have something you wish to trade for.

I'd also be interested in a game or two since I have none for the system yet.
Thanks.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but the CD1 uses the Genny 1 power supply, right?

If so, you should be able to find one locally.

Yes and no.

The CD1 uses the same p/s as the Genesis 1.

I went to 4 used game stores and 3 thrift stores and all I found was a couple Genesis 2 power supplies. Usually when I go thrifting I don't find anything but SMB/DH carts and hocky puck game disks.

I think I might end up just getting a RadioShack adaptor.

There's your polarity, but sorry I don't have any spares.

You may have trouble finding a 3rd party PS that's rated at 1.2A. However, you'll find plenty rated at 1A. Use the 1A in the Genesis, and the 1.2 in the CD.

The Radio Shack adapters are too much money. Check out Wal-Mart & the like. You can usually find adjustable supplies rated up to 1A for around $10, and you get a full compliment of plugs (instead of the 1 you get at RS).

Personally, I like the 1602 power supply. The only one I've ever seen that didn't work had something rattling around inside. I always dig through pawn shop wire-bins-o-death looking for them, since they work with about 1000 other consoles.

I don't like adjustable power supplies. It's too easy to bump the settings.

I havn't gone to RadioShack yet by the way.

1602, you say? They still have those at Sega Parts (http://www.sega-parts.com/products/segacd-prices.htm).
