Best video game rivalries?

Which games do you guys think featured some great rivalries? Cloud and Sephiroth from FFVII come to mind. There's also the classic Ryu and Ken in Street Fighter. Although that's more of a friendly rivalry.

Not sure if this qualifies but I always thought that Mega Man and Zero have had a rivalry (Zero wins though because he is definatly more of a bad ass!)

Dante and Vergil DMC and DMC3

I think DMC3 has some of the best storyline to any video game and the Dante/Vergil rivalry makes for a bunch of awesome battles. Unfortunately all the battles against Vergil except the final one aren't very difficult compared to the other bosses, even on Dante Must Die, but they are the most fun due to being him being faster paced unlike the other bosses. The Nelo Angelo battles from the original DMC are also the best in the game.

Blue and Rouge SaGa Frontier

Probably shouldn't be here, but this popped in my head. These are my two favorite characters on SaGa Frontier. If I don't use Blue, then I'm getting Rouge as a sub character if possible(even though on any other quest he can't get as powerful.) The most awesome thing about these two, since they're the same person, is that no matter which one wins, you still win :P.

Raziel and Kain Legacy of Kain

On the Soul Reaver series and Defiance. Everyone missed these two and should have been one of the first up there.

Mega Man and Dr Wily/Sigma Mega Man/Mega Man X

mnbren05 mentioned Mega Man and Zero which I don't really agree with unless you say MMX6. But. What about Dr. Wily through the entire original series? Or how about Sigma through the entire Mega Man X series, though Zero and Sigma as well. If you take story account into it, Zero and Sigma are more of rivals than Mega Man since Sigma fought Zero while he was maverick, now it's the other way around.

Denim Powell and Vice Bozeg Tactics Ogre Let Us Cling Together

If you choose not to kill the people of Baramus, Vice ends up siding with Leonard and wants to kill you. Throughout the rest of the game he tries to kill you and even helps when Leonard does. If you side with Leonard and end up killing the people of Baramus, then Vice ends up on the other side of things, but you later on get him as an ally.

Blue and Rouge SaGa Frontier

TOTAL props for mentioning SaGa Frontier. That's seriously one of my favorite RPGs of all time. I loved Asellus's storyline, and I also loved using Emelia. Rouge was an insane magic user, he was a must in all of my games. Except with Riki and T260G, where you have to use Mei-Ling if you really want to use Mega Windblast that bad :)

I don't think Mario vs Sonic has applied since 2001, when Sonic Adventure 2 was ported to Gamecube.

Sonic vs Knuckles also ended around the middle of Sonic Adventure. As it stands now, Sonic & Knuckles are pretty much the token gay couple of the franchise. Oh come on, they constantly hang out and can't seem to stand their assigned female counterparts being around them.

Th eonly old one that still stands seems to be Megaman vs Dr Wily.

I'm not an Sneser, whatever that is. I had a Genesis during the 16 bit wars and still think it has a better library of games than the Snes. But you can't argue with solid sales (http://retro.ign.com/articles/965/965032p1.htm) figures.

The Snes's 49.1 million units sold is always going to be greater than the Genesis's 29 million units sold. Like I said before, it was a very close race during the middle, but the Snes came back near the end and just ran away with it.
