I actually added Blockbusters to my thread (http://www.digitpress.com/forum/showthread.php?t=115238&page=14) two days ago because I ran into the sale at a distant Blockbusters. I purchased Soul Calibur 4(360) for $24.99. I have to admit that I'm dissappointed that the 360 version of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed was the only one that they didn't have on clearance new. Oh well.

Both Blockbuster's in my area had crap for a selection, don't rent so was very shocked when I went to both, both had no next-gen games at all and thought they were out, when I went to see what games they had to offer for 360, PS3 and Wii there were none, then I was shocked...after that I just left confused.

I went to a local Blockbuster and they just had all of the clearance games dumped into a big bin with no sort of ordering to them.

The ones I took a look at seemed to be used rental copies, with Blockbuster's case instead of the real ones, and no manuals. I didn't look at any of the actual discs, but the couple of times I've bought used games from them, the discs were in terrible shape.

A few people on CAG have said that Blockbuster is ending this clearance soon and sending all the remaining factory sealed games to a liquidator.

Blockbuster is in serious financial trouble right now, and issued an SEC filing the week before this clearance sale that they may not be able to continue as a 'going concern'.

Looks like this clearance was an attempt to turn some inventory into quick revenue while they try to re-negotiate with lenders.

I'm sure they'd be pissed to see all the CAG discussions about buying cheap clearance games at other stores and trading them in at Blockbuster to get these games. Blockbuster is clearing out decent games and getting a surge of worthless trade-in crap in exchange. They're probably going to be bankrupt in a year anyway, but the CAG kids exploiting the trade-ins are accelerating Blockbuster's demise.

I checked another Blockbusters today and was hoping to find a 360 version of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. Instead I found the PS3 and Wii versions again. Gears of War 2 is also on clearance but only for $49.99. Had it been $24.99 I would have snatched it up.

For the people wondering, it's been my experience(at several Blockbusters) that you bring up the opened case with the clearance price and they give you a factory sealed copy of that game from behind the counter. I got the last Soul Calibur 4(360) they had and the employee looked forever but he found it and it was still factory sealed.
