Maple Story...seriously

So I'm thinking about trying out Maple Story, but I can't make an English account in Korea so I have to get one of my friends to do it. Is it worth it? Anybody else play?

I personally didn't like it. It's like a sidescroller without any of the things that make a sidescroller fun. You'd be better off with any of the other free MMOs. But, that's just my opinion.

YEah but it's a sidescroller that plays like an action RPG... kinda like Wonder Boy.

It's fun until you hit level 50, then it becomes a chore to play. They do this so you will spend money on double experience coupons, which cost a fortune.

If you must play this game, go see if you can find a private server that dodged Nexon's big C&D letter campaign recently.

I used to play it a ton, its still on my old laptop. It was something to do while I was watching crap tv with the wife.

I enjoyed it, it was more Action then RPG.

For a game that's supposed to be "free to play", Nexon does nothing but whine about money.

The reason people are going to Private Servers? Nexon's official version is NOT fun to play anymore! They add new content for high-level players once every 7 or 8 patches. Every other patch is some new thing for people level 30 or under.

My wife and I played this for about three years. About a year in beta, and a couple after it went live. We enjoyed it quite a bit and hit about level 86. At that point it became straight up grinding and we lost interest.

They have a lot more areas and quests now than they did when we quit, but we never came back.

I logged in to see if they still had my character, and they do. Went from rank 1,000 to 68,000, lol.

Level 91, legit player. Banned for advertising meso selling websites.

This is why you don't go AFK in Henesys near the market street warp, or anywhere else the meso sellers like to stand. Being in proximity probably got me banned.

It's permanent.

I filed a ticket, but I should get the auto-response "you will not be unbanned" and no human input. Only way I see this being unbanned is if enough of the player base raises hell, as happened with another unfairly banned high-level player recently(yes, Nexon only reviewed and caved due to the pressure). Maybe my guild... if they even choose to. I won't hold my breath.

I did start a 2nd account, just to contact guild members(I really don't understand the point of bans if they allow us to make new accounts) but I won't play it. If they won't lift the ban, I'm sure there are plenty of private servers still around I can remake the character on.

One guy at the Nexon forums said I deserve to be permabanned because I don't buy NX cards. Yes, people who don't pay to play a free game should be banned for it... mouthbreathing corporate fanboys... yes, the economy sucks, but I should spend money on pixel clothes. I can say I envy the kids who get a Wii, Xbox 360 and a PS3 and can spend $100 on NX cash a month, but me, NX cash is deemed something I can't afford unless my store permit runs out and MTS sales are too slow to get NX.

My opinion of Nexon isn't favorable and they seem to be doing their best to lower it by the day.
