I found four or five of these, all different games, at a Value Village about a year ago and so far nobody I've shown them to has any idea what they are for. Any ideas?

This isn't 100% since the pin set is a bit funky but, I'm fairly sure those are Game Gear carts. The outer casing looks like a GG form factor to me anyways.
Only other possibility I can think of would be Lynx. Only because of the pins and my complete inexperience with anything related to Lynx. Maybe it's just the exposed pins that I'm thinking about. I've never seen the back side of a Lynx cart so, I don't even know if they are double sided.
EDIT: Holy shit... forgot about the Watara... O_O That's what you get when a GBA is your first handheld huh? LOL

Yeah, i was going to put a game gear cart in there for comparison, its actually quite a bit larger.

Blasted internets... It's not to scale! :D
Well, there's my learning for today. Now I can just kick back and enjoy the stormy Saturday indoors.

Oh Treasure Hunter. I have that game for my Watara Supervision. I found my Watara on ebay. They weren't on ebay very often a couple years ago but last november I saw quite a few on there. There were were no buy it nows though. They were all bids so it was tough to get one.

"Watara Supervision"
Never heard of it, I guess that shows how much I know...
I was going to guess Gamegear as well.

I actually found one back in 2000 in an Oregon game store. The clerk asked me if I ever owned one before. I told him I had heard of it, but never owned one. Mine came with Crystball, Hero Joy Kid (or something like that), and something else for 14.99. I can't remember when I got rid of it, though.

Wow, at the thoughts of it being Game Gear. I saw the pic and ruled out GG and Lynx immediately. For Game Gear the casing is completely wrong it wouldn't fit in the slot well.

It also does not look like any Lynx game. There's only contacts on the front of the cart. I have not seen any with backside contacts. Also once again the casing is wrong.

And honestly, Supervision is the only other one I know besides possible Gameboy. But everyone seems to agree that's not possible either.
So I looked up supervision carts and found this.

Seems like a match to me.
There's one it needs repair though

At first blush I thought it was a gameking game (see the Dr. Ashen's review (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O_l9Mjwmick)). But yeah it's totally supervision.

It's a dirty thumb, and it's compatible with most game systems available these days.

that is a supervision cart. I have the system and some games. It came out the same time as gameboy and was cheaper. they didnt have enough good game developers working for them so no real good games. That probably why it failed. If you are interested I would sell my system and games.

I was thinking that it could have been a GG bootleg or multi-cart. I've had a few GG pirates that looked exactly like that Watara casing. Only the pcb and pins didn't stick out. They share enough similarities to be confused.
