View Full Version : What's an average amount of lines someone can get in 60 seconds in Tetris?

So I'm setting up a little event at the bank I work at. I'll have an NES set up with Tetris, and based on how many lines someone can get in 60 seconds, the prize varies.
We have some little ho-hum prizes at the branch that are broken into 2 piles, with a grand prize for whoever has the most lines by the end of the day.
What I'm wondering is, what does everyone think the amount of lines for the 2 piles of prizes should be? People of all ages will be playing so it can't be too hard.
Thanks :)

30 Lines and you get a deposit slip and three lollipops
50 Lines you get a blank check.....and two pens
Plus everyone gets a free sticker just for playing.

Not the greatest prizes, I admit. But for the grand prize we had a nice clock and a $10 iTunes card.
But hey, just playing Tetris for a minute while grocery shopping is a prize in itself I think.
So, any suggestions? I've been stuck at work so I really haven't had a chance to sit down and play.

I'd go with 15-25 lines. That seems reasonable.

Where's Thor Ackerlund when you need him?

In 60 seconds? That would equal 60-100 lines in four minutes, which isn't likely.
I think you'll be lucky if a non-gamer gets 10 lines in 60 seconds.

Yeah, my guestimate was 7-10 lines in 60 seconds, especially if starting from scratch.

The goal should be one line. And they have to use the Power Glove.

That deserves FOUR lollipops!

Yeah, I was thinking in terms like us. I literally fly thru my first 40 lines of Tetris but casual and non-gamers might be alittle confused at first.

Mind you I play Tetris a lot, and I still don't consider myself that great. So I just did 10- 1 minute runs with a stop watch. And they are as follows.
12
11
13
7
9

15

I'd say 15 is really stretching it for people who don't play it often, unless they get exceedingly lucky. 25 would be near impossible, unless you already have a nice stack built up. I wouldn't be surprised if quite a few got 1 or 2 lines. 16 was pretty difficult for me, when starting from a fresh screen.
