Might be a problem with the RF switch, I've had some bad RF switches that make the picture look bad.

Could be the guys TV too. I know that hooking up old game systems on new HD TVs tends to make the games look a bit off.

Yeah, you always should try a second TV if you have one. Also, almost everyone has a set of RCA cables laying around. Have him try those as well.

His games or yours? He's probally sticking his old dirty games in it and of course it's going to blink.
I had a similar problem when I sold an Intellivision lot a few years ago. I cleaned and tested everything but my buyer emailed me back complaining that it didn't work. It was a special Christmas present for their husband and they were REALLY upset, threatening negative feedback, starting paypal claims, etc...The biggest advice I can give you is to work with them calmly and try to find out what they're doing wrong and help them to get it working. In my case they had the TV on the wrong channel.

This is a fine example of why I prefer to sell on Craigslist... some people can't be worked with, especially when things such as Paypal are involved(which has a strict "the seller is evil and greedy" viewpoint). Especially when they start screaming "refund me" before doing anything else.

If the image is blurry, welcome to the NES. I don't know what else you can tell him. Ask if he has any other retro systems to compare to with similar cables, or maybe offer to send him some composite cables you know work well.

if the customer is like every one but me, they may have a newer tv like mentioned before. I gave a snes to a buddy and he said it was horrible looking on his HD tv. Get him/her to test it on a new tv/tell him to clean the carts too. I clean every game that comes into my hands regardless of what it looks like.
I have original pins too... games just have to get jammed slightly to the right sometimes XD
