The online rarity guide lists this easter egg for NES TMNT:

Easter Eggs: You can play the game with two players! From the title screen just press Select and Start.

I tried it several different ways and couldn't get it to work. Am I mising something? I can't find any info on this anywhere else.

Never even heard it was possible until now, and I have pretty much every Nintendo Power from those days. I think I even purchased the game new when it was released. The only "tricks' I know about are trading boomerangs, making easier/harder enemies and making pizzas reappear when you enter/exit a room, and making the steam rollers disappear (although I think there was a trick related to the roof-top ropes, too). I say it's an error.

I say it's an error.

That's what I'm thinking as well. All the tricks you listed were the ones I was aware of as well.

I too have never heard about that Easter Egg. I'm thinking for something that major some of us would have heard about it before now.

Perhaps the person who wrote about it can shed some light on it.

I helped edit the NES section of the actual book, is it in there? I must not have caught it.

It's only one player. That was one of the major gripes about the original TMNT for NES.

Was there some other game that had that trick? Maybe it was accedentally put on the TMNT listing instead? That's the only place I found on this site where that wording is used.

It's in there. There is also a code for unlimited continues for Batman (NES) - in the book and on the online list, but you already get unlimited continues.
