Good, bad,or indifferent, what experiences have you had with this service?
I'm about to win this game on EBay, but the guy only accepts money orders or BidPay. I'm not the biggest fan of money orders, but I've barely even heard of BidPay before. Is it worth registering for? Is it safe? I do have a paypal account, but he doesn't accept paypal.

I've been paid for a couple ebay transactions before with BidPay and it wasn't any hassle at all. It's just the same as a normal money order and is sent right to your door. Didn't have to register online to receive it either.
I've never paid anyone with Bidpay yet (I use Postal Money Orders instead), so I don't know how it works from the buyers end, but it looks totally legit...

@Wise: You're probably better off with sending the regular money order - I think bidpay charges $5 to send one vs. buying one for 50 cents at your local outlet (grocery store, drugstore, etc.)

Actually it's $2.95, and they do offer free shipping to pretty much anywhere in the world. I use it instead of making a special trip to the post office. It's convenient, and I've never had any issues with them.

It's most convenient when you have to do International payments, because I think they take care of currency conversions. It's a Western Union payment service, so you know it's good, but that $2.95 makes it worth it for the gas, the stamp, and the MO fee.

Bidpay is good. I have used the service before, and I can tell you it is ALOT safer than just sending a money order in the mail. I usually use my paypal account to pay bidpay, which in turn pays the seller. I have a receipt through paypal, and a transaction number.

I haven't paid anyone with it, but I have received money with it... and I have to pay a $5 charge to receive the payment in UK£, so I have to tag that onto the cost of the item. So if the buyer has to pay $2.95 at their end on top, then that probably makes it a rather unattractive proposition. And hence why I have only had like 2 payments through Bidpay as opposed to, um, er, LOTS through Paypal :)

I've received Bidpay payments plenty of times before as well and NEVER had any fees attached to it. Like a regular money order its the seller who pays for the service. The ones I received were sent from a buyer in Japan and I'm in the USA. Maybe they take advantage of you U.K people for some reason.
