I was looking at the price of the neo geo games for the Wii. Then I realized I could get them much cheaper for the PS2. Why in the hell are they so expensive on the Wii Virtual Console?

Convenience? It seems to me Nintendo is just trying to sucker people that don't following the gaming scene (and therefore have no idea these Neo Geo collections exist). Who knows. It's even more confusing now that most of the newer collections come out for the Wii too.

Nintendo is all about business, not games now. This should be of no surprise.

The real question is why the hell is Metal Slug $2000 on the Neo Geo when you can get it cheaper on the Neo CD, Saturn, Playstation, Wii, PS2, PSP, or Gametap.

Dunno.

Nintendo has always been and will always be all about business, not games ever, same as every other company that makes games to make money. This is business and should never be a surprise.

Fixed that for ya.

I would use the convenience and ignorance factors here. I wager that most Wii owners would not know how to get ahold of these games otherwise and, if they don't have a PS2, wouldn't shell out another $100 to get the SNK games for a bit less money.

The Virtual Console versions came out before the Wii/PS2 compliations.

From my understanding the VC versions are straight emulation and perform better than the editions on the compliations, which are ports. I know that for me, the Neo Geo games I have on the VC look and play better than their counterparts on the PS2 collection.

I can't tell a difference myself.

What about the wii snk compilation games? Do they play better than their VC counterparts? Are they ports or emulation?

Um, didn't most of these compilations come out BEFORE the Wii versions in Japan?

Also, most of the recent SNK Collections are not ports. They're emulated versions. I'm not so sure about KOF Orochi Saga (US) though.

The PS2 collections are arcade-perfect with the usual console additions like arranged-soundtrack, color edit, and vs/survival/etc. The only exceptions are the SNK Arcade Classics Vol 1 and The King of Fighters Collection: The Orochi Saga (but Japan got The King of Fighters Orochi-hen, which is arcade-perfect).

While I'll end up agreeing on some level, that's not entirely true. It's obvious game developers are in it to make money, but every developer isn't in it just to push out shovelware.

Armored Core Last Raven was released as From Software's 10th Anniversary of the AC series. The game was 19.99 at release. Just like every other AC game, it's again mostly the same thing with extra additions, but Agetec never had to start its release off at 19.99. It's guaranteed the same amount of people would have bought it whether it was 49.99 or 19.99.

Koji Igarashi of Castlevania fame loves the series(even though the games he's creating aren't as good as the previous titles.) Dracula X Chronicles is the best thing he's ever done for fans of the old school Castlevania games. Originally 29.99, Dracula X Chronicles is a remake of Rondo of Blood, but it also included the original Rondo of Blood, and a completely retranslated Symphony of the Night with additions like a playable Maria Renard(and not the crappy version on Saturn's NitM) a couple extra items, as well as changes to coincide with the Japanese original PSX version.

So yeah. While all companies are in business to make money, it doesn't mean that all developers don't care about the games they create and do want to actually give something for the gamers to enjoy.
