It supposidly looks like Excite truck (good), but has some bots put in. Not sure how I feel about that yet.

I'll be taking a look. Some of my favorite parts of other car themed games are the random mini games...so this could be a nice twist on things.

Hmmm... ExciteTruck was incredibly under-rated in my opinion... it was a solid racer that had an interesting emphasis on performing tricks over coming in first. I'll be keeping an eye on this one... it's nice to see that they've taken this direction rather than just produce a wi-fi enabled sequel.
This certainly did come out of nowhere, which makes me wonder what else Nintendo has up their sleeves... they have been keeping their cards pretty close recently...

Apparently the new Nintendo power has some good chunks of new info. An EA Exclusive Tennis game, A Boy and Hi Blob announcement and stuff.
Excite truck was fantastic, just felt a little limiting. Great graphics too!! Wi-Fi would've been awesome.

Excite Truck is probably one of my top 3 favorite Wii games. It will be interesting to see how they take the series. To be honest, I'd just be happy with an Excite Truck track expansion.

Interesting. Kind of reminds me of Stunt Race FX on the SNES.

Excite Truck is one of the most underrated games of this generation. It in my top 7 for sure on the Wii and possibly top 22 for this current generation of games… also is nice that it can have custom musics \\^_^/
Anyways, I am curious to see what this new game will bring.

I love Excite truck, it's a very under-rated game. I just hated the invisible walls. I hope they fix that in this game, I'll be keeping my eyes open for this.,

What it comes down to is fun. Excite truck was fun to play, had good music and most of all...did not take itself too seriously. Heck the sequel could be vegatables on wheels...if it is fun to play who cares.
Speed Racer is a good example of a game that I had no interest in, but after playing it, it was a good game. Excite Truck is the same thing. Fun to play and agree with others way underrated.
This one looks interesting...now online modes please!

BHvrd you too funy.
I would've been happy with Excite Truck 2, like someone else said without the invisible walls. It was definitly a game taht hardly anyone I knew played or heard of for some reason. It was one of the best Wii starting lineup games too.
Not sure if I really like the bot car look, seems too much like some shitty 90's saturday CG cartoon for me right now.

It's not the deepest racing game out there, but it sure is fun. Probably the game I enjoyed the most at launch, even more than Zelda. :)
I sold my copy when I got rid of my first Wii, but luckily I found a new sealed one for $15 afterwards when buying my second. Considering the used prices on the game around here... I got lucky.
I'd like to see this one in action. :)

I was just going to say the same thing. Maybe it's some sort of hybrid/spiritual successor?

Don't usually do this, but damn I was impressed...
So I picked up ExciteBots today on the simple premise that it was the ExciteTruck sequel. Fearing the worst (the animals scared me), I loaded it up tonight and plowed though the entire first circuit and some of the mini games.
I can safely say the game is epic win.
The engine / graphics is still ExciteTruck, but more refined. Everything is more lush / colorful, and the tracks have more curves then before. Play control offers both horizontal Wiimote and vertical mode, and control is dead on; it had better be. You'll be doing about 40 different things during the races.
Essentially each animal has their own stats like the trucks, but the play field now has so much more in it that it's damn near 5 different games in one, and all of it can be comboed.
Besides ET's drifting, spinning, and turbo boosting, you now have access to rods / poles. If you (auto) latch onto them, you must rotate the control to match the on-screen speed, or let go at the right time. This gives you an air boost, which you can then combo into the air spin.
Then you have the 'sports' tricks - random ? Boxes will pop up things like a dart to your animal, and you have to toss it at a target while racing. Or you need to knock a soccer ball into a net, or knock down 10 pins, etc.
Once a wrench is grabbed, you're animal will stand on his hind legs and you must 'walk' (shift the remote up / down in time), which will then give you a bonus - this leads into leaping onto a grind rail, which can then be used to collect musical notes that can be added to your star count.
All while flying at the seat of your pants.
Also nice is there's now a high star cap per specific tricks - the basics are still 5 stars max each, but you can snag up to 10 stars (15?) depending on the bar tricks into others.
There's a ton of mini games (bowling!) to be had, You can trade replays on WiFi, and there's a LOT more animals to unlock as well as hidden colors to go for.
If your Wii's been collecting dust, and you even remotely liked ExciteTruck, give this game a shot; it's amazingly frantic fun.
Thanks for the impressions, Dangerboy. Excitebots sounded questionable at best after hearing of all of the mini-games in the middle of the race but after seeing some videos and reading others' experiences with the game it seems like all of the craziness just adds to the fun. From what I've heard the online is almost required to get some of the in-game rewards due to the high star requirements so hopefully that will mean lots of players online. Great idea to be able to bet your stars online...sounds like the first must-have Wii game for me so far this year, especially considering how much I loved ExciteTruck.
