Dreaming of Dreamcast
Amazing graphics, 3D bump mapping, realistic physics... sure all wonderful stuff. However when it comes to true gaming enjoyment old skool is where it's at. ThinkGeek is here to help you capture some of that gaming nostalgia with brand spanking new Sega Dreamcast consoles in the original box. These arrived mysteriously at our warehouse... delivered by a blue hedgehog. So dig up that old copy of Soul Caliber and get cracking.
Each Dreamcast console is new in the box and comes complete with a single controler, av cable and demo disc. You of course get a built in 56K modem and phone cable... which we assume you'll make great use of :) You'll need to provide your own games... but we know you can handle that.

Pretty cool, but $100 is a little high.

Yeah, 100 is a bit steep, but I just thought it was cool that a somewhat mainstream website is selling brand new dreamcasts.

$100 for a NIB Dreamcast? Seems reasonable to me but I don't have a need for another DC. I think Papastu needs one for his collections.

I've kind of been wanting to get an new Dreamcast console just to have as a back up, but I'm not sure I'm willing to shell out a hundred smackers. Still pretty cool, I wonder how many they have?

I can get them used for $30. Is this a new production run or just old leftover warehouse stock? I'm guessing the latter.

It would have to be leftover stock. And isn't it ironic that a new Dreamcast and a new Playstation 2 are finally the same price? :D

I'm not real sure I see the value here. No VMU included. The web browser is pretty much obsolete and I believe most of the online game servers don't even function as privately-run backups anymore. You MIGHT be able to access some VMU save sites, if you're lucky, but web browser discs don't seem to be incredibly hard to locate. Phone cables are cheap at dollar stores.

Sure, if you want a new one in box, go for it, but otherwise it seems an excessive cost.

Awesome.

If it included a VGA box/cable and a BBA in the box at a slightly higher price, it'd be deal of the century.

This is the same price that Games Quest and Sega's authorized parts store, Sega Parts has been selling them for since 2001 and they both still have them in stock. It's also cheaper to buy them on Ebay with no tax and free shipping on many of the listings at $85 or less.

I've got four used Dreamcasts I've picked up here and there, and none of them work. The controller ports are out on three, and I'm not sure what's wrong with the fourth. It's easy to find used ones around here, but past experiences tell me that they won't work worth a damn. I'd kind of be interested in getting a 100% guaranteed working backup console.

And they're currently sold out...
