Hey guys, I was just trolling through ebay checking current prices, and when I checked on Faria for the NES, I found a listing of a mail order map that sold for $160!! I checked the guide and it didn't have too much info about the map, just that it was a mail away and very hard to find nowadays. I know certain pieces of games can go for as much as the game themselves, sometimes more (i.e. SNES final fight guy box) I was curious if anyone knew of any other paperwork from the NES/SNES era that is crazy hard to find.

Thanks for the input!!
-Brian

Chrono Trigger. The packaging alone is worth at least as much as the cart.
The same with EarthBound. The box and guide are worth maybe 2 or 3 times the cart.
Actually, I also forgot. The EarthBound cardboard air freshener (a prize for mailing in a response to some mystery-scent thing from the guide). That thing is stupidly expensive.

Section Z (nes) map sells for around $100+

Also mail away strategy guides for games like Crystalis (nes) and a few others sell for around $100+

Awesome, good stuff guys. I had no idea there was a map for section Z. This gives me a few more things to hunt for! Any other ideas just shout em out!

I spent years searching for the mail away ultima exodus guide, ended getting it as a bin on egay for about 15$, some of the capcom mail away posters are worth a pretty penny as well, same with the konami ones.

Are you talking about the hint book? I got mine off Ebay years ago but I don't think it was a mail-away (or mail-away exclusive anyway). I've got some early EGM's with full-page ads saying it's available for purchase at Toys R Us.

it could well have been released in stores, but the manual had a mail away form for it (never did see it in stores) I think the mail away version was 8$

I remember Accolade having mail-away rolled posters of their Genesis game box art. I remember a Turrican one hanging up in the office. It was pretty slick.
