I have a problem with my gamecube and wanted your opinions. I bought eternal darkness for the gamecube this weekend and i tried to play it on my gamecube but the opening sequence starts to skip a little. Then I wiped off the disk and tried again but still skipped a little but at different points. I kept trying but the skipping occured at differnet points of the sequence each time. During this whole time, my gamecube was making weird noises like the cd spinner thingy (sorry dont know what its called) was just coming to a complete stop during the skips. My other games seem to work fine but I don't know if it's the game or the system.

I ask this because that sound my gamecube made was just not right but then again all my other games are ok. The cd is not scratched at all either and if it was the cd would it skip at different points. I thought if the disc is messed up it would mess up at the same point every time. So is it the gamecube or the game. I don't really know. I wish I knew someone with a gamecube to try this game out (heard good things). Any thoughts and opinions would be greatful. Thanks in advance

Must be a bad copy of the game, if the Cube has never given you trouble with other titles. Would suggest exchanging it if that's an option.

Never ran into any issue myself with that game. It's a great title, BTW.

Maybe this is a common problem with that particular title-- I picked one up once (GameStop used--ick!) and the same thing happened to me.

Of course, two copies having similar problems doesn't necessarily make it a "common" problem, but still.. kinda odd.

Thanks for your input guys. My gamecube does work fine for other games but I forgot to mention, it makes funny noises even when working properly. Is this normal?

It's just an insanity effect. The game is also known to delete your memory card too. :evil laugh:

Do those freakin' effects really start even before the gameplay begins? and at different points everytime? I'm even more confused now :beaten:

I had the same problem you described. I also had problems with Resident Evil (remake), and RE 4. I actually had one GameCube come down with disc-read errors while I was playing through RE1 (it was a launch system and only a few months old at the time).

And I never could play Eternal Darkness or RE4 for more than 45 minutes or my system (the replacement from my first broken one) would freeze up. Oddly, most other games seem to work fine.

I've never heard of anyone else having problems with Gamecubes, but I've had my share.

No but it would be amazingly awesome if they did.
