N64 dex drive problem

I am trying to make a backup of my N64 memory card. I have a dex drive and the dexplorer program. I confirmed that the memory card had data on it by loading up Perfect Dark and holding start. This brings up a browser that shows all of my saves. However, when I put the card into my dex drive and try making a backup on the PC, it says "Memory card inserted is blank! Please insert another memory card." I have tried this on two separate PCs. I also have a Playstation dex drive, which works correctly on both PCs using the same software.

Does anybody know what the issue could be?

Are you using one of those third party multipages controller paks? If so, the DexDrive may require the extra juice provided by the AC adapter.

No. I have two memory cards, one is official and one is a third party, and none of them work.

mmm...then I've got no clue. Maybe the DexDrive slot is dirty? or the memory cards?
