One of the greatest assets to the original Daytona USA (besides it's fun gameplay) was it's music. The three songs that accompanied the arcade tracks were catchy as HELL! Who could forget, "Day-e-tooo-naaaa! Let's Go Away!" or "Roooollllling STAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAART!" or "I wanna fly-I-I Skyyyyy Hiiiiiiigh! Let's Go-o-o-o-togeth-er-er!" I certainly didn't. These tunes are unforgettable.

All pretty iconic, but the biggest thrill for me was always starting the game up for the first time...the loading...the "Gentleman Start Your Engines" sound clip...and then....ROLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLING STAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRT! So classic. The guy sings with such a buoyancy too, you really don't hear that kind of approach now or even back then. It was in a jubilant league of its own.
A close second would be the "Game over, YEAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" from Sega Rally Championship. LOL

Very strange this thread popped up. Just played some Daytona on the Saturn today. I dunno, I always thought the music was way too cheesy. It's rather annoying to me. On that note, I had fun playing Daytona in the arcades with 3 other people. However playing it alone is really boring to me. :( I like Ridge Racer a lot more. ;) And in my opinion, the Ridge Racer soundtrack totally owns the Daytona soundtrack. :P

As iconic as "ROLLLLIIIINNNNNNNGGGGG STTTTAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRT" is, it's always "DAYYYTOOOOONNNNNNAAAAAAA, Let's go away" that I think of first when I think of Daytona USA.

Never annoying to me, the vocal can be cheesy, yes... but I love it. It's so confident in it's cheesiness that it passes. It's just so upbeat and FUN. Something that is almost entirely missing in modern gaming.

For the modern incarnations (namely Daytona USA AKA Daytona USA 2001 on the Dreamcast) I'd have to say the arrangements from Desert City. "Let's go rope and start your camel!"

HAH! Is that really what they are saying on the Desert City track? I always tried to guess it, but never could. I racked my brain on that one. LOL. That's gonna be my new SIG!

I'm 99.9% sure that's what they're saying. I used to play Daytona USA on the SegaNet almost every night (11:00pm - 3:00am or so) with the same group of about a dozen people. Desert City (Mirror) was the preference of one of the regulars and the music track for that configuration plays the chorus three times over and over at the start. "Let's go rope and start your camel.. let's go rope and start your camel.. let's go rope and start your camel!" At least it was the consensus among all of us that's what it said. LOL

Looks like "The King Of Speed" is winning this race.
Maybe we should bring into contention the Daytona songs from the Dreamcast version. I know which one I'd vote for.... "Let's go rope and start your camel!".
