?????????????????????????

Gotta give us a bit more than "M2". I don't think you're talking about the .50 Caliber / 12.7mm Browning Machine Gun.

I think he is talking about the failed successor to the 3DO.

To be honest, there's not much use for them other then collecting dust. Even the people who have them don't have software. And those who do won't admit to it.

Well I still want one as a collectors item

On the 3DO Zero forums, there's a hobbyist programmer that actually released a free shoot em up he made that runs on the M2 hardware. Do a google search and you'll find the forum and the .rar file he put up for people to download.

1200 dollars.

1200 dollars.

I would suggest you do some research into the various models of M2 available. You just made an offer of $1,200 for a fairly common Panasonic multimedia kiosk presentation system that was used by auto dealers which regularly goes for maybe $100. If you want to play actual M2 games, you might be better off buying one of the Konami M2 arcade boards.

I just want a M2 home console. aka one that would have been released as as home console or at least can play M2 prototype games

Also does it come with a controller?

First off, you need to do some research on model numbers.

Second, you're looking for one of maybe 6 known working home units. There is software out there, but the people who have it are not willing to share or sell it.

I would really reconsider spending the kind of cash it would take to get a real M2

I have the cash. that isn't a problem. I just want to know if this M2 works. I honestly don't care about all the details I just want a working M2 unit so that I can play the one piece of homebrew released for it. also I researched it just now and saw a picture of it and it looks like the M2 I've been looking for so..........

You're willing to throw down four digits to play one homebrew game?

Yes. I am a collector. and this will complete my collection.

I don't see how the FZ35s could complete anyone's collection. It was a commercially released use of the M2 hardware, but it was for training and kiosk use. It's not a game system and it didn't have a game system controller available for it, just third party devices like a mouse or trackball if the person implementing it chose to use them. If you are serious about M2, you might want to spend some time on some other forums talking to the few people who have complete or near complete prototype systems or development kits.

Interesting. He's a collector but he wants that to play a game. He collects playing experiences.

Should he try to buy an FZ-DR21, the DEV one, and use that with a computer (Mac?) to launch the game(s)?

Actually I found a guy on Ebay who has that one. I'm praying he's willing to sell

I'm sure he'd be more then glad to sell you the external CD player that connects to the actual console for $1,200, 'cause that's what the model number FZ-DR21 belongs to.

You really need to calm down on the M2 and do some research before you drop a grand on something stupid.

The FZ-DR21 is an empty shell that connects to the PC dev kit; so without both halves, you're not doing jack. If you can find a fully operational M2 dev kit for less then $5,000 you'd be sitting on the find of the decade.

What would make a fully operational M2 DEV kit? I've a NIB FZ-DR21 with the pcb that goes inside the PC and software, everything still sealed. Wouldn't that be enough?

To be honest, i'm not sure. I would imagine that's the full set though.

That is a full dev kit, although it doesn't come with a controller which might make playing any games or prototype software on it pretty darn tough.

Wouldn't a standard 3DO controller be ok? I've never tried the system anyway, even if I have some software somewhere.

Nope. They are electrically different unfortunately.

A standard 3DO controller WILL work. The M2's controller port was designed to be downward compatible.

Honestly, don't bother. Use the money on something worthwhile. The M2 is an overrated piece of hardware that has no real software for it. It would be more economical and exciting to own a full Virtual Boy set.

You know, only because you don't have it doesn't mean that it doesn't exist. There's enough real software for it.

Good point. Sorry m2maniac, there's one shitty racing game and a handful of crappy homebrew stuff. Like I said. Virtual Boy. Or possibly a full game.com set.

Trying to reason with him wanting the system makes as much sense as when I was trying to reason with people that are trying to collect full Nintendo DS game sets.

Plus, hell, maybe he has enough money to burn that $1200 for something to display on a shelf isn't a big deal.

M2maniac

Well yes I do have enough money but I want to make sure I am getting aa M2 that really is similar to what would have come out as a home video game system
