I got a Wii Fit last week and have been enjoying it alot. I probably play it more than Twilight Princess, Mario Galaxy, Smash Bros, and Crossbow Training combined, to be honest. Probably has to do with the competition between the wife and myself (always trying to out-do each other's top scores). I was curious...has anyone stuck with this thing long enough to see if it has any long-term weight loss effects? Also, since the system sets up no routine for you, has anyone ever compiled a weekly set of activities to perform to maximize weight loss or a targeted body area (like most men I'm interested in reducing the waist line and enlarging the upper body). I've researched, but haven't found anything definitive or anything that doesn't somehow seem "endorsed" by Nintendo. Any help/links would be appreciated!

From what I have experienced so far (and some basic exercise knowledge) Wii fit is an excellent supplement to a more rigorous routine. Do some cardio, Wii Fit, and live a healthy lifestyle (don't smoke or eat too much) and you will fell 1000% better than if you didn't do this. Wii fit is a great tool if you keep this in mind.

Yeah, I don't think you're gonna build upper body with the Wii Fit....it's not designed for that. It's essentially very basic fitness for couch potatoes.

That being said, I've been using it regularly since January. An average of 5-6 days a week exercise, alternating between Wii Fit and jogging on the treadmill. I do Wii Fit for 30 min. one day, then jogging for 30 min the next, etc. I've also changed my diet, eliminating soda and candy, and eating more healthy foods in smaller portions. I've lost 26 lbs. since January and I'm down 3 pants sizes.

For a Wii fit regimen, I started with 15 min yoga, 15 min strength and am now doing 30 min strength training. I just randomly change the routine and exercises so my body doesn't get used to any one thing too much. After 4 months, I'm at the point where I'm looking to buy weights to supplement my Wii Fit and jogging. It's very effective if used properly...but definitely not the ONLY tool you should be using. If you have any questions, shoot...I'll try to answer em!

I've profited quite a lot from WiiFit. Not that I'd use it very often, i.e. do the exercises. But it gave me a reason to measure my weight weekly, which made me do more exercise and eat less....somehow. Some gadget-scales would have done the same though :)
