Bubble Bobble on SMS

Does anyone know how many levels Bubble Bobble on the SMS have? I defeated the boss on level 100 and assumed that was it. However after beating him there is a cutscene showing Bub and Bob interrupting the wedding of their girlfriends to some monsters. The monsters steal the girls away again (sigh) and level 101 starts!?

How long is this game?

edit: I just found a password for level 200. Is this the final level?

I never knew of this version until I hit the emulation scene, needless to say it kicked the butt of the already awesome NES version due to the fact it had a ton more items to collect, plus even more levels than the arcade version has, truly a remarkbale game that has stood the test of time.

Shame the series creator, Fukio Mitsuji died last December. :(

I have never played this version before. Does it have the flicker that the NES version does? I have Bubble Bobble: old and new for the GBA, is it comparable...like to the same quality of graphics and items?

It does flicker, but that in no way hurts the game. Can't really be helped with the limitations of these old 8 bit machines when there are a ton of bubbles on the screen. The graphics are excellent IMHO, very rich colors compared to the NES, and there a huge number of items.

In terms of comparing it to the GBA version, I would imagine the GBA version would have the better graphics due to its better specs but the SMS version is a great port of the game. And compared to the NES version, I much prefer the SMS game.
