vectrex controller issues

Just bougth a fairly cheap vectrex little dirty but powers up and plays except only like one button as far as I can tell works (basically in the two games I have minestorm and norzod I can not shoot anything) please help! I've found an article about cleaning the controller should I try that?

hell I'll even send it to someone to fix it (if I can't I'll try first)

instructions worked just disassembled and cleaned works great :) thank god to cause these controllers are hard to find basically just have to buy another system!

Just be glad it's the controller... a chip in the Vectrex could have been the reason :)

really? wow I am glad now :) I assume that would be even more complicated/expensive and would require sacrificing another system
