Nintendo 3D Joystick in box

I got this in a trade with someone here. The box is a bit beat up but otherwise fine. No idea if it originally had a driver disc or not. The box makes no mention of it. It mentions instructions, but there are none included with what I got.

As to whether ot works... my PC lacks a gameport. USB adaptors are insanely expensive but I managed to find a gameport bracket for PC for $2(though $10.50 shipping wasn't particularly nice of the company...), so I'll test it eventually. Feels solid, though. Maybe now I can get TIE Fighter running in DOSbox.

So what's the value of these?

I've not seen too many of these...though when I do see them, they tend to go for only around $10 or so...

I believe the company that made it paid Nintendo for the name and logo usage, possibly hoping it would help with sales. Nothing about the thing seems related to them otherwise. It even lacks their "seal of quality".

I have a copy of the drivers on my computer, if anyone were to need them. They're small enough to fit in an email attachment.

Mine is currently sitting in a milk crate in the closet, collecting dust. I tried it out on Apache once, but there wasn't a joystick profile exactly like the Nintendo's. So it worked, but to mixed results. Anyway I didn't play around with it much, but I'm sure if it were calibrated correctly and whatnot it would work well.

I have to wonder why Nintendo would license out their name for a product that would just confuse people. The first conclusion people would come to is that it's a controller for the N64 (assuming people would only skim the writing on the box that overstates that it's a PC controller). It makes me think that there was some kind of odd deal set up between the companies, sort of how the Zelda and Mario games ended up on the Philips CD-i. Did that company manufacture some kind of arcade stick for the N64 re-badged as a Nintendo product or something?

I'll say this, and this is what confused me when I bought mine... I'm pretty sure the copyright date on it (I forget if it's on the box or on the actual joystick itself) predates the release of the N64 by at least a year, possibly two years.
