Given that it's a PSP RPG that's only going to serve a somewhat niche audience, I think it'll be a bit desirable down the road, but nowhere near the WD ones.

i reserved my copy at gamestop today. i had enough credit on my edge card (from the current 60% extra trade in bonus promotion) to pay for it in full, so no tax! (which is a big deal for me here in nyc).

the reason i didnt reserve it ages ago is that i was waiting on the best possible deal. and the fragility of the box made me not want to get it from amazon.

I believe the strategy guide will become rare, its exclusive to gamestop.
I know my gamestop only got the one i preordered in, ive never preordered a strategy guide before but im glad i did.

btw, i got a text saying gamestop would have it tomorrow PM (tuesday) but when i called earlier in the day was told that theyd have it on the 3rd (wed).

the guide is already in. the game will be in a day after it ships (this is the same for like 90% of games. only AAA blockbusters get preshipped).

i saw the guide, its 15$ and tiny. didnt impress me. besides i have at least 2 versions of the damn thing already.

ah... gotcha

ive had that happen to me many times. non AAA titles always arrive at gamestop the day after their ship date.

I bought the Special Edition today, along with the strategy guide. Haven't played it yet since my PSP is charging up. I hope they do something like this for Lunar 2: Eternal Blue.

Haven't opened the music CD nor the bromide cards. No need, really.

And I managed to play the game on my CFW PSP! Woot!

Nah, I will stick with 5.00 M33-6. I did use a program to change the Eboot file on my game ISO, which worked wonders. :)

yeah i used umdgen and edecrypt to do the same to play it on my cfw (m33-6). it wouldnt work right when i saved it as a cso tho, so i had save it as a iso.

my limited edition just showed up from amazon today and was shipped in a nice sturdy box

however my fucktard mailman proceeded to wedge it into my tiny mailbox instead of delivering it to the office (like his underpaid retarded ass is SOPOSE to do with all packages that you know don't fit...) took me a good 10 minutes to pry it out, but the gamebox is still ok with no damage!.

I have a modded psp, what do I need to do to get it to work with it ? ie does it need to be on a certain firmware for the game to run?

yeah, my asshat mailman does that too sometimes. my problem w/ amazon shipping is that when they use their own shrinkwrapping method to get the item stuck to that cardboard, it squashes the item if it is fragile enough.

Finished the game about 4 minutes ago. (played it nearly nonstop all of tuesday, and today! ) LUNAR ADICTS FTW

Gonna play it through a few more fifty or so times, because it kicked frigging ass.

They did not screw up a single piece of the game, other than Nall's voice, and thats not even their fault.

Not too many games initiate warm fuzzy happy feelings with things as simple as battle music, character introductions, and epic battles.

This one is the culmination of years of Lunaring. Total, utter perfeccccction.

oh and theres bromide cards. Even if you hate the game you get portable porn.

I just started playing, and WTF is up with Nall's voice? It's so irritating. I rather have a simila voice like the original, but less grating.

Also, some voice acting is very, VERY bad. Dragonmaster Dyne (at the beggining) sounds like he could not give a damn.

However, other voices sound great. So it's a mixed bag.

Although I still await my copy in the mail, I played through a good deal of the import and the demo and it IS very good and more of what he original SSSC should have been. That being said, however, its not perfection to me. Perfection would have been better voice acting, the original TSS music (though this remastered one is WAY better than it was in SSSC) and a world map I can actually travel on and fight ( not the dinky one from SSSC..ick).

Still, Lunar is Lunar and I cant wait to have my own copy in my own hands :)

Nalls voice sucks, Dyne sounds like a nerd, but some of the other voices are better.

Luna doesn't sound like a 45 year old hick. (Which is basically who was doing her voice on PSX, lol)

Shinji from Evangelion is who's doing nalls voice. They picked the whiniest shmoe they could!

Oh well. I just pretend I dont hear that voice and that I hear the pitch shifted squeely voice.

My Aliens vs. Predator Hunter edition got crushed that way. Not sure why Amazon thought it was a good idea to wrap a fairly large but fragile box to a piece of cardboard. I sent it back and had to get a refund as they were out of stock at that point.

My overall impression of the game may be shaded by my nostalgia, I don't know though. (though take that as you will, I was probably 16-18 when I first played it, never having the money for the PSX version nor owning a Sega CD when it originally came out. )

I'm not a fan of the music, it seems really toned down for some reason. I also don't like the way it cuts in and out each time you enter/leave a room. It separates me from the game somewhat.

Lack of a world map that I can travel on somehow diminishes the feeling of an adventure, if you will. As well as the item pictures and wacky descriptions are missing, one thing I always commend games on is the addition of the little things, because it's always the little touches that make it feel complete somehow.

I find the voice acting lacking. But I've felt that way for many games for a long time now. There was just some authenticity and enthusiasm in the voice acting for the SCD/PSX version. This game it just feels kind of churned out.

Overall I think it's a proper remake, and the way it should be done. It's also something good to start with if they plan on bringing the series a fresh fan base and I respect the work immensely for that reason, because it makes the game very accessible.

I am however glad to see more companies taking their turn at actually remaking their games instead of porting it half a million times. There are many other games that could use a remake, the polish is there, but I don't really feel like the heart is.

I'd never get the impression that she was 45 just going by the sound of her voice acting. It's such a pathetic, mousy voice. If the PSP Luna is even more high-pitched and child-like, then I definitely am not expecting good things.

really? The first time I heard her voice the first time I played the PSX one, I was like "lol, hillbilly". Her being 45 may be off, but she sure does look kinda old in the making of video. I preferred her voice acting for other characters in other games more, like Teiris in DF.

dont fret, the one on PSP sounds like a college-ageish chick.

One flaw for Silver Star Harmony on the demo was the load times. Every time the game had to load it was 4-6 seconds before you regained control of your character. Faded to black, was black atleast 2-3 seconds, then came back up and it wasn't until it was full before you got move your character.

Also in battle after every turn there was a full one second pause before you could choose the next actions.

I usually stick up for the PSP when they say load times are bad because they're generally pretty good, but this is a sprite based game with an average load time of around four seconds at minimum. Each area is very small and battles also take just as much time to load.

Here are some other sprite based games and their load times. Crimson Gem Saga has 1-2 seconds which battles take 2-3 seconds before you can start controlling the characters. The areas you run around on are larger and generally have many more NPCs.

Star Ocean First Departure and Second Evolution have near instant load times when switching from room to room. 1-2 seconds load times for the battle system and up to an additional three seconds to control your characters as it pans over the battlfield before giving you control. This one is less on load times and more on style of entering the battle.

I could list a lot of other games in the same genre with good load times, but the point is clear. The load times just suck. It wouldn't be as bad if the screen areas were larger, but they're small.

Other than that. I'll pick the game up once it hits 19.99.

I dont have the game or PSP but figured I should get the guide. My local store didnt even have it out on the spinning rack fixture and an associate had to go to the back to find their only copy. The guide is a GS exclusive and can also be found on the GS website, in case you are looking for a copy. The digital version is on the Prima website, for the same $15.

I don't plan on selling my guide for a profit (it may go up in value despite being a PSP guide) but I'd rather pay $15 now than hope to score a copy on ebay in a few months.
