So tell me about the SSX snowboarding game series and what game(s) should I try for it: SSX3 or On Tour?

People seem split between Tricky and SSX3. I'm under the impression that most people were really disappointed in On Tour.

Haven't gotten around to playing them yet, though I guess I may as well dive into SSX3 in the near future. I'm totally in the mood for a snowboarding game and I've pretty much played Cave's to death at this point.

Still have to pick up the Amped and Coolboarders series and I've heard that Stoked is the new hotness.

If you get On Tour, get the GCN version, it has Mario/Luigi/Peach as playable characters.

If not, just get Tricky. Whatever you do, don't get Blur. The controls suck, which is a shame, because an SSX game on Wii could have been good.

SSX Tricky is one of my favorite games of that generation.

I never got into SSX3. I didn't like how you had to board to different locations.

Tricky is the best in the series I think, but SSX3 had solid game play. Did not like On Tour and hated Blur.

Never played Tricky but I loved 3. I thought boarding to the different locations was great and the mountains were awesome. So was the soundtrack, and the gameplay for that matter.

My thoughts exactly.

In addition to its solid gameplay, Tricky has amazing sound design from the opening menu forward. If you have a nice A/V system, Tricky is a great game to crank up.

Katchoo loved Tricky, I was never a fan of either because I just couldn't do the combo's right.

SSX3 is by far the best out of the series, its the most user friendly, ssx tricky is great, but its more complex, and harder to be good. I kinda enjoy ssx the original more then tricky.

Unfortunately, I agree with this 100% I so wanted to love some Wii SSX. I even lied to myself, telling myself that I just hadn't figured out the control scheme yet, but I eventually admitted that it just stinks.

And I always liked the first SSX best, myself.

The original was the *first* game I put into my launch day PS2, and it blew me away. I did buy Tricky but I never really played it much - I still go back and play the original if I want to do some snowboarding.

Never played any SSX game after that.

SSX Tricky is seriously one of my favorite games ever. It had so much replay value to it, IMO. I loved Elise.

i like how the original discussion started with asking between SSX3 and On Tour and spawned into SSX3 vs Tricky vs SSX (original). i honestly love DP. the best bunch of gamers out there.

so, how about a poll of a SSX3 vs Tricky vs original? i would love to know which to track down. personally i like amped and [way back when] Coolboarders 2. also curious whats the best platform to get it on (i have them all).

I played both and loved both. SSX looks better, actually, a lot better, and the hills seem more open and expansive, however, Tricky seemed just that: More Tricks, more stunts more craziness.
