Wah? A black college football game built with the Unreal 3 engine? I'm not really a big sports game fan but it almost sounds interesting enough to try out. Especially for the halftime show rhythm games:

Now THAT is something. It'd be awesome if you could hook up your Rock Band drums to play some drumline. This may be something worth keeping an eye on.

I call Grambling!

Wow, I hadn't heard of this. Looks very interesting. I love the cover, with Doug Williams still looking badass 20 years later.

Nothing like being able to frag your opponents, score the bomb, do the Drumline halftime show and then get back into football in the second half.

It sounds different I'll give it that much.

I saw this at the Women in Gaming meet and greet at last year's GDC. They had the game running in the background and the CEO of the company talked it up for a few minutes. I was really impressed by her enthusiasm for the title.

I'm not a huge sports game fan but it seemed interesting and everyone else seemed to like it.

So basically it a football game with players that look like they're from Gears of War! I'm in.

I hope there is a create a character option where I can make myself the only white guy on my team.

Competition from EA, you know I will give it a shot.

I don't care that it is all about black colleges, but I can definately roll with it.

And the Unreal 3 engine on a football game sounds pretty cool actually.

Why not just wait for White College Football the Experience? Yeah like that game will ever make it to shelves.

Isn't that one already out? I think it's called NCAA Football.

Don't take this as me being a jr. mod, but I don't feel like seeing retarded shit about games just because of the race. Can you dudes keep this not about race, and more about the game itself please?

No need to lock a topic about a game to compete with EA.

I say let's decide the game not based on what colleges are chosen for it, but the gameplay itself. There is not really a big storyline for sports games.

The developers made it race thing. They could've called it anything. They chose the racist route.

Double standards FTL.

EDIT: scooterb23: excellent post under me.
I retract everything I had here.

Nicely worded.

I don't even know where to start...don't even know why I'm starting, but anyway...

This isn't a racist route...it's a game highlighting a different segment of the college football world besides the Division I-A teams we see in every college football game.

There are over 100 Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) in the U.S., they were all formed before the integration of schools in 1965. They are not segregated, heck...some of the HBCU now have a majority white student populace today.

Now, the focus of the game is obviously on the entirety of the HBCU experience. Especially, the fact that they are known for extremely high energy, and entertaining halftime shows. (Watch a Grambling vs. Southern game sometime... the halftime show is usually more entertaining than the game itself). And yes, most of these teams have white players on them.

So again, not racist... just focusing on an aspect of the college football world that not many people know about. I just hope the game is solid, as it sounds like a great concept at this time.

Yes, yes...we all know the history. I'm simply saying, drop "Black" from the title. It's racist. It's excludes all races other than "black". Have the title reflect the diversity of these colleges instead of centered on one particular race.

Sound familiar?

Edit: If anyone really feels strongly about this (I sure as hell, don't) and has to discuss this further, just PM me. I don't want to derail the thread anymore than it has been.
