I hate "grading" groups like this. One for comics, there's one for toys and now one for video games. It's not MORE valuable because some company says it is.

Agreed 100%.

I hate this grading system thing. It may dupe a few people, but I don't think most will fall in the trap.

For one million I rather buy one million twinkies.

I paid $2.50 for a cart only copy. I'm fine with that.

Retard: "Hey man, I bought Ice Climber today!"
Friend: "Awesome dude! how much did you buy it for?"
Retard: "1 million dollars"
Friend: "..."
Friend: "Can...can we play it?"
Retard: "um no..."
Friend: "...why not?"
Retard: "its sealed and locked in a plastic coffin"
Friend: "well...what...whats the point of that?"
Retard: "its worth a lot of money"
Friend: "but...you can't play it? so whats the point of paying 1 million dollars for a video game that you cant even play?"
Retard: "we can always go out and buy a loose copy for 5 dollars"
Friend: "so that means you would have spent 1 million and 5 dollars just to play the game...right?"
Retard: "..."
Friend: "yup...you got screwed my friend..."

hey, that lousy seller is the same person who "bought" my Fun 'N Games the first time around, and then didn't want to pay. what a piece of work. I should bid on that, and then be all "oh, my cousin must have been messing around on my computer."

Gougetacular. 1 Million dollars is ridiculous.

aren't the black dot sealed ones just the canadian releases?

I've watched enough Hollywood movies to believe the latter could be the case...

The sad thing is that there is probably just a beat up copy of SMB/DH inside,

I just offered him 10$, but I think it's a bit too much for SMB in an Ice Climber box.

I'm going to set up a stock reply so I can just cut/paste every time one of these threads pops up.

/////BEGIN STOCK REPLY

The seller obviously doesn't expect it to sell for (INSERT ABSURDLY LARGE AMOUNT HERE). He is doing it to get attention. Mission accomplished, since there's threads about on damn near every video game forum. All it takes is one person to make an offer for ~.1% of the asking price and it's a good sale.

It costs the same low amount ($.05-$.35) to list an item via Fixed Price on ebay for a month, whether it's a dollar or a billion dollars. Getting thousands of hits for a nickel? Not a bad deal I say.

Nope, all the initial US releases had the black dots.

Very true. Now excuse me while I go list my copy of SMB/DH with Elvis sweat stain for one billion dollars.

Or MC Hammers biography...

Atleast he got a funny commercial (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M9xxZZIj38Y) deal out of it. "Can't touch this" indeed.

I'd buy it for a million, as long as it is worth more than a million, but it's not, so I wont.

A sealed, graded, first print NES game has real value and appeal, unlike the dozens of worthless gimmick auctions you see every day. I know you're just making a corny joke, but there's a real difference.

How is the grading company saying its more valuable? do they assign a value to it as well?
From what I understand its the idiot who owns the game who assigns a value, so what does it matter if a company says its an 85 or 8.5 or 99.99999999...just dont buy it if its to much

I was agreeing with you. The whole "selling SMB/DH for a billion dollars" comment was made to illustrate your point. Since ebay charges the same price for all fixed auctions, you get stuck with auctions like this Ice Climber one. Now if ebay started charging, say $500-1000 for someone to list a buy it now of a million dollars or more, then we wouldn't have to deal with these auctions anymore.
