This weekend I picked up a NES toploader for $2. It's rather nice, except for that it only outputs RF. I was wondering if any of you have ever done the mod to give the toploader av out? I found this mod (http://www.gamesx.com/rgbadd/nes2avmod.htm)on GameSX. How hard is it? I was thinking this looks like something I could learn to do myself or I could ask my dad. If I don't do either of those, can any of you recomend any places that could do it?

Shadowkn55 here on DP does them. His work is outstanding and if you are interested in having it modded then I highly recommend him.

$2? How in the world did you get such an awesome deal on this less common version of the system?

The cheapest deal I ever got was $30 after shipping.

I got it at a garage sale. I've gotten my best deals at garage sales, though it is usually slim pickings in my area. I picked up a Vectrex for around the same price a year or two ago. I also found a Laseractive for $40 a couple weeks ago. Sadly, I have a much easier time find systems than games.

yeah where I live, most yardsales I see are people who aren't selling any video games but a bunch of random other stuff.

I should probably check out other neighborhoods of this city for yardsales as it is very big.

One time I did find a bunch of music cassettes for cheap, all by bands that I liked though. One time someone was selling a Pac-Man arcade cabinet but I didn't pay the $100 and buy it as I had no room.

I guess the best thing is when you find someone selling who doesn't know what their stuff is worth. Their trash is our treasure.

I've heard the Gamesx mod isn't that great. When I modded mine I used this one: http://darthcloud.da.funpic.org/img/bypass.html
Just make sure to lift Pin 21 of the PPU.

resurrecting this thread because i had Shadowkn55 mod my nes toploader and he did a fantastic job, the difference in the picture is really amazing.

i would HIGHLY recommend anyone looking to have this mod done go through Shadowkn55, very professional to deal with, very reasonable price and a great picture when it's all done, couldn't be happier

I got xxOOxxOOxx (I can never remember what his username actually is).

It was painless for me and he did an excellent job.

I plan on getting mine modded at some time in the future. Right now, I'm just trying to save up enough money to build a new computer.

I want to get my toploader modded, but i dont really wanna mess with it cuz i dont see em very often, though i doubt i'll ever sell it. How much do these different people charge to mod the toploader?
