I noticed this game in an EB email and was not able to find any video of it. Having never heard of the character before, I was able to ascertain that he/she/it has had four previous games. Can anyone that's played them say whether they're worth tracking down or not? Anyone planning to get the DS version when it comes out next month?

There should at least be plenty of videos on Youtube of the earlier games in the series, but I'm pretty sure there's video of this one too. Perhaps you should search for "Starfi" ?
It is my understanding that pretty much the same group of developers was responsible for Super Princess Peach, and the video footage strongly suggests as much. Given how utterly lackluster that game was, I shall eschew this one.

Super Princess Peach is so easy that even the majority of casual gamers could one life it first time playing. Not a fun game.

Whaaaat? I thought Super Princess Peach was an incredibly well made game, I loved it, it didn't matter to me that it was easy.
I've been looking forward to Starfy but probably won't get it for a while.

Well, it's true that it's by the same developers, but those developers -- TOSE -- are quietly responsible for a preposterous number of games. More than 1000 since the NES era, in fact. They do mostly uncredited development work for just about every major Japanese publisher: Nintendo, Capcom, Square Enix, etc.
The comparison to SPP is pretty fair, though. From what I've played of the Starfy imports, it's a series for people who would like the Kirby games if only they weren't so darned hardcore.

Oh, the magic Youtube search word is stafy, not starfi. スタフィー does the trick too.
