Bethesda has announced that their packs of downloadable content for Fallout 3, previously only available to Xbox 360 and PC owners, will soon be coming to the PS3. "Operation: Anchorage will be released for PS3 in late June, followed by the release of The Pitt and Broken Steel 4-6 weeks apart." They also confirmed the existence of new DLC packs that will arrive on a similar time frame. Point Lockout will allow players to "explore a massive new swampland area filled with new quests and content," while Mothership Zeta lets you "experience an alien abduction first hand and find out if you're tough enough to survive."http://games.slashdot.org/slashdot-it.pl?from=rss&op=image&style=h0&sid=09/05/20/0514242 (http://games.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=09/05/20/0514242&from=rss)

I knew more Fallout 3 dlc was inevitable but I didn't realise it'd be this soon. Still, fan-frigging-tastic. :)

Both sound great to me. Some people are bitching on other boards about the alien one and whining that the alien encounters in the first two Fallout games were "non canon," but I think they need to lighten up.
I hope they don't pull out hillbilly stereotypes just because Point Lookout is set in a swamp though. That would be unnecessary. And I hope you can get any new perks without having to level, because I'm going to hit 30 before I finish the main game, I think, let alone the DLC I already have.

Woo-Hoo!
Bethesda, I never once believed those nay-sayers who said you wouldn't bring any DLC to us PS3 owners.
Even when it came from the mouth of your own employees.

Well here's hoping some of the new DLC brings another level cap raise.

It's very exciting that they are doing this but personally, I'll just wait for the inevitable expansion disk to play all these wonderful new things

One of those is hitting for the 360 very soon.... Though its only Operation Anchorage and The Pitt.

That's awesome news, though the one I really want is Broken Steel so I can continue leveling. It's a good sign that further DLC will be released on discs though. If they keep up this pace we'll have a whole library of Fallout DLC before too long.

i was going to dl the packs but i'd rather have the disc. plus they'll be cheap as chips in no time, unlike the dlc version.
strange... according to bethesda, a retail disc version isn't possible for the ps3.
The studio said retail versions of disc-based add-on packs are “not possible” on PS3. DLC for PS3 will only be available online via PlayStation Network. -gamasutra (http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=23693)

I don't really get that, they didn't start producing those discs until this week, well after Broken Steel was released. I don't really get why it's not on the disc too... price?

so they can charge you for two discs.
Bethesda also said it would be releasing at retail two disc-based add-ons for Xbox 360 and PC: one with The Pitt and Operation Anchorage on May 26, and another with Broken Steel and Point Lookout in August.
probably a third disc too, considering mothership zeta isn't listed for the second.

It looks like they will be releasing a GOTY edition for the 360 in the Fall which will have all of the DLC up to that point, so it might be worth it to wait if you're wanting all the content in one disc package.

I'm waiting for the GOTY package with everything bundled.
Will there be enough room on a DVD to do that though?

I'm delighted that they're keeping the DLC train rollin'. I still haven't tried The Pitt and Broken Steel yet, because I fear the game will consume my life again :)

I always assumed that it would be like Oblivion and just include the DLC on an extra disc

PS3 uses a Blu-ray. Isn't that like 25GB(single layer)- 50GB(dual layer)? That should be plenty of room. They're not like that antiquated Microsoft company, getting by at 8.5 GB at a time.
But didn't the press release say that it wasn't possible for it to be on a disc? It wouldn't be a lack of storage space, that's for sure.

All I know for sure is that Broken Steel and Point Lookout were released on a disc for 360 just last week (or maybe the week before).
I haven't seen PS3 DLC in stores yet, but I haven't been looking either.

Yeah. Bethesda is like. "DLC EXPANSIONS PEOPLE!!!!!" The smart people will just not pick up the DLC and wait for the GotY, even if they own Fallout 3. If they're stupid they'll pay for the DLC, then bitch about it afterwards, fully knowing that the GotY edition is set to be released. I think even if they own it it's better to get GotY because you're not spending that much extra.

It's not intelligence, it's patience that is required!
I *know* they'll release it all at once later in the year, but if I don't want to wait I don't want to wait.
(And I couldn't wait any longer! :) )
