Holy shit! I've been waiting for this announcement for years! I hope this isn't a UK exclusive.

Hopefully this will lead to a port of the Virtua Cop series like HOTD. I dont understand why Sega dont do it, do they think it wont sell as many as HOTD?

The way I see it Sega & Namco need to release many of their unique arcade games on the Wii. Just think how fun (and system appropriate) games like Final Furlong, Point Blank, Top Skater, etc. would be and how much $$$ it would bring in for Sega and Namco.

Awesome, I'm well up for a bit of Safari.

I have to admit, I never contemplated Final Furlong on the Wii before. If you held the Wiimote horizontal like the original 'reigns' on the arcade cab and rocked it back and forth, I suppose it'd work. It's not going to be as porno as scantily clad young ladies straddling comedy plastic horses in the summer, but hey, it's all good....

Top Skater

An actual use for the Wii Balance board. I wouldn't pick the Wii up for it, but definitely a great game for the Wii to have. And Jambo is another reason to actually own the Wii.

If only more companies would actually make games that use the Wii's specific functions in a good way, then the system would be worth owning beside one of my others.

Perfect for the Wii.

As long as this is a budget title I guess it sounds good. I remember when there were rumors of a Dreamcast compilation with this game, Brave Firefighters and Emergency Call Ambulance. I would love to see that line-up on the Wii, especially since the Wii mote it easy to use as a pointer/fire hose.

I think that even if Jambo Safari and Brave Firefighters both got $30-40 retail releases, that I would still buy both of them. The games are just that much fun to me.

Exactly! The Wii has potential to make home ports of MANY arcade games that would never have a chance with a standard controller. I hope that these arcade game legends realize that they don't have to reinvent the wheel and many of their unique arcade games can be home system blockbusters (even if they are 10 years old).

I disagree. Unless they make some major changes to Jambo Safari, there is only a very limited amount of game play there. I agree that it's fun, but it was pretty specifically designed for an arcade environment and a deluxe cabinet at that. Unless you are providing 4-5 hours of entertainment, nobody is going to pay $40 for that game.

I realize that not everyone, if anyone would pay that. I'm just simply saying that I would. I've already put probably $40 into Jambo in the arcades, if not more. And i've put about $20 into Brave Firefighters, and I'd really like to finish that game for once. I believe there should be enough in Brave Firefighters for a stand-alone release.

With Jambo Safari, if they really wanted to get some solid sales, all they would have to do is put the original game on the disc, fancy it up a little bit, and throw another driving based game on there, such as one of the Crazy Taxi games or 18 Wheeler. I'm sure that a 2-in-1 pack from SEGA could bring solid sales.

They could easily come out with Wii exclusive classic arcade collections and make some decent sales. For example:

Sega Arcade Gun Collection:

Virtua Cop 1-3
L.A. Machine Guns
House Of The Dead 1-4
Sports Shooting USA
Jurassic Park

Sega Driving Collection:

Crazy Taxi 1-3
Daytona USA 1-2
Eighteen Wheeler
Outrun 1-2
Virtua Racing

Derby Owners Club Online Wii Edition (this game is oddly entertaining)

This is the first exciting Wii news I've heard in a while. I hope some of the ideas here actually make it!

Bumpage. Was just thinking about this game today and wondering how it stacks up to the arcade version. Anybody?

Not so good. They tried to extend the arcade version by making it into a kids type animal rescue game. All the fun and intensity of the time limits in the arcade version got stripped out. They should have just stuck with the arcade version and maybe added some new levels/challenges.
