buy an empty uprigght gaming station/console thing (you know like a standing arcade) with no boards in it, and buy your own boards? that way i could cusomize what games i want (pac man, dk, aseroids, and galaga), plus it seems much cheaper

Er... yes you can. But you can't just swap any board in for any other, there are standards for wiring on different types of motherboards. Most JAMMA games are interchangeable - so if you find a game listed as JAMMA on klov then you can usually pop in any other jamma board... but you may want to read up a bit more before you go too crazy.

You may just want to find an old cabinet that supports jamma, get yourself a harness to hook it up to a PC and run Mame. There's loads of sites out there with more info on that.
