Can anyone point me in the right direction for a Donkey Kong ROM? I have one called Crazy Kong which has different sounds and the Donkey Kong I have is missing sounds. Thanks

If your Donkey Kong set is missing sounds, you need the samples for it.

Download, unzip, and place in the MAME Samples folder.

You can leave them zipped in the samples folder.

I thought Donkey Kong no longer needed samples.. but maybe I'm delirious.

It's one of those ROMs that has changed over time, so it depends on your version of the ROM (and MAME for that matter).

Yeah I guess I always assume the standard perspective is always "the latest mame" and "the latest Rom"..

But that being said, even on the latest Mame.. anyone know offhand if DK uses samples? I might be totally off in thinking it doesn't :p

Since I've only started getting into MAME recently, I have the latest version. While there are ROM sites that don't carry DK, I just googled Donkey Kong Mame ROM and found one easily. While the music isn't quite right, it's still a complete single ROM. I didn't have to download anything else.

Well I just inspected the contents of the unzipped folder, all extensions end in .bin or bpr. Not sure where the OP got his/her ROM, but I didn't have an issue.
