Taking time out of his Terminator Salvation (http://www.joystiq.com/tag/terminator-salvation) press tour to sit down with Conversations (http://www.philstar.com/Article.aspx?articleId=470739&publicationSubCategoryId=70), Christian Bale spoke about his childhood love for our lifetime passion, video games. When the interviewer brings up Roger Ebert's review of the film (http://rogerebert.suntimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20090519/REVIEWS/905199991) (video game reference in tow), he then asks Bale if he played video games "in his younger years," to which Bale replies, "I played video games in my entire growing-up years. One of my favorites is Super Mario. I wouldn't sleep until I finished the game, you know."

Not quite the drug-addled gaming experiences of Alec Baldwin (http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/12/oh-the-80s-alec-baldwins-hard-nights-ended-with-galaga/), but sleepless nights in front of the television are something we can all relate to regardless. Not everyone can be a Jack Donaghy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Donaghy), ya know?http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif (http://www.joystiq.com)Christian Bale loves video games, lost sleep over Super Mario (http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/23/christian-bale-loves-video-games-lost-sleep-over-super-mario/) originally appeared on Joystiq (http://www.joystiq.com) on Sat, 23 May 2009 19:00:00 EST. He's trying to make himself look human and relatable, what with his mindless bitching and threats towards a movie crew member. I still see him as a total dickhead who makes more money than he deserves.

Christian Bale, you're a nice guy. You're a nice guy, but that don't fucking cut it when you're bullshitting and fucking around like this on set.

HE'S BATMAN.

And judging from that performance, he also has throat cancer.

Dont forget the "Grizzly Bear Throat Cancer" voice that he pulls out in a Keanu Reevesque fashion. Monotony!

Didnt see that until after I wrote the above thingy. LOL

You think that he got all pissed at the controller and started shouting shit at it: "I CAN'T PLAY THIS GAME UNDER THESE CONDITIONS"

actors get paid too much money, and the crew members are not getting paid the millions upon millions that the actors are, so I say fuck christian bale. he can kiss my ass for treating the film crew that way since he thinks he is all super important. He is only rich for having a pretty face, just like many other actors.

he could stay up playing mario, or he could be into animal porn, i will still see him the same.

The crew member deserved to be bitched out, really.

He really did. Bale apologized later that day and they are BFF's now. Get a grip people.

It seems on the DP boards if you make a lot of money and make a mistake, you do not deserve anything. The smaller your income the more you deserve.

The guy broke a cardinal rule in the business and bale admitted he went too far. But since he makes millions of dollars he is a dick and should give all of his money to people who work at gamestop.:sob:

Alright...I don't keep up with all the Hollywood news and gossip, because frankly I could care less.

However I keep seeing people mention Bale chewing out come crew member on set. Anyone care to fill me in on the details? I feel left out.

Who here hasn't flipped a bitch on people? If a homeless guy flips a bitch on a little girl it's adorable, but have a celebrity do it and it's going too far. That's America for you tho.

If there was a thread started for every celebrity who likes video games or used to like video games, you'd actually have to create a whole new subforum to hold them all.

Really, who cares?

Anyone who read "old" Nintendo Power knows various cast members of The Wonder Years, Growing Pains, Married with Children and Seaquest were big into video games. So what?

This is why I don't camp out on places like Joystiq.com (the apparent source for this piece) or Kotaku.com all morning hitting "Refresh" every 90 seconds waiting to see a big story before anybody else like a ton of other people on the internet.

Cuz you gotta sift through mountains of crap articles like this to get something relevant.

And Bale's behavior wasn't really any worse than stories that have circulated over the years about people like Russell Crowe, Val Kilmer, Jean Claude Van Damne, Shannen Doherty, Tom Cruise and a score of others whose names escape me at the moment.

Unlike Bale, those people (minus Cruise perhaps) generally had the luxury of seeing their greatest acting successes during the non or pre-YouTube era. So a lot of their "stuff" isn't documented on the internet.

I think it is the other way around.

The less money you have, the worse it is to flip shit at your job.

Now if a bum flipped shit at his job, chances are that he would get fired. I am considered middle class with my income, and if i flipped shit, i would get fired.

Now these acting assholes flip shit, and we sympathize with them?

No. We should treat them like any other job. You can hear at one point what sounds like Bale going after the other dude. You make a hostile work environment for your co-workers, you no longer have a job.

That is the real world, and that is why I have no respect for him. Shit, it has nothing to do with his income. He could be working at Micky D's, and I still feel that he should be treated the same.

This idea that actors are somehow greater than other people is fucking dumb. The thing that separates us is that they chose a field that pays way more money. I am just fine with that. I chose the field I am in, and know and realize that it does not pay millions. I am fine with that.

I can see how it can mess you up when you are paid to act as a character, and some dude fucks it up, but bringing a hostile work environment is not the way to handle work related issues.

Even if he appologized, it should not matter. It would be like if I flipped out at my job, brought a hostile work environment to somebody, and then assumed that it would be fine after I appologized. It would not. I would get fired.

What should have happened once Bale brought a hostile work environment? He gets fired. Plain and simple. I guarentee that there are many, many striving actors out there that you can pay less for the same great work (see, now that is America).

The problem is that somehow actors get put up on some fucking pedistal like they are somehow better than everybody else. They are not. They do their job, I do mine, and we all do what we can to make a living regardless of the pay. You bring a hostile work environment to me when I am trying to do my job, even if I fuck up, then seeing as how you are not my boss, you should not have a job, and somebody else who can get paid less comes in and takes your place.

And yes, I feel that any person, regardless of the job, that brings any type of hostile work environment to other employees should not have a job doing that. If an actor, who has no legislature over a stage grip or whoever it was, tries to act all high and mighty, well that actor is not your boss, and it should be the boss' decision as to what happens, not somebody who thinks they are better than you trying to attack you.

Bale was dumb enough to do it on a very high profile project, and hence somebody was recording audio.

He appologized though:
