How much did you pay for it? I'm just curious, and don't have any clue what it's worth.

Quick answer. It is worth what you paid for it since you are apparently a collector of Gameboy stuff and are not looking to resell it.

Id like to think i did. You can change the games in it to so that is honestly what sold it for me. Anyone that is going to www.screwattack.com s gaming convention this summer will get to play it as it will be on display near the ghostbusters car.

Looks pretty clean. I've seen a couple sell on both Craigslist and via private collector sales within the past year for a few hundred dollars in similar condition. Not sure why you won't tell people what you paid as one of the ways we all answer these questions is by tracking sale prices over the years and this would be another data point.

I dont have a problem telling i just wanted to see what people would say before i decided to get it. I spent a little over 2000 for it. Im not sure that i was ripped and I hope i wasnt but its a great peice none the less.

I saw one of these selling for $50 on Ebay a few years back. I didn't realize it was such a big deal other wise I would have bought it.

As long as you're happy, that's all that matters, but I can tell you that I have been offered one of these new in the box for around $1,000 and obviously I am aware of at least two others in very nice condition that sold in the $300-$400 range in the past year. I passed on the new one because it was too high in my opinion, so I believe from a pure market perspective, you paid way too much. I have never seen one go for over $1000 on Ebay even with bidding wars and other craziness.

New and in the box? And you passed on it why? Ive ran across a few in the last two years and ive never seen one sell for under a grand. I figured i was paying to much but at the same time its a really really nice adition to my collection and something that is fairly rare. So in the long run Im happy :)

Yes sir, you surely saw that....because I am the one who bought it for around $50. The shipping cost more than the item, but not by much. Mine is not in quite as nice of condition, but still nice. Mine was also "converted" by Nintendo to fit the Gameboy Pocket.
I would be curious if the lock on all of these displays is the same; because I lost my key so I have to leave it unlocked now.
Nice buy. I don't have that cash...but nice system. I love mine.

Still remember I had to hauled the damn thing with my arms to my car about 1 miles from the flea!
Sold it for 200$ a year later

Do you run the carts right in the gameboy or is there a SNES Super GB or something in there? Some gut shots might be neat.
It's a really really big Nyko screen magnet :D

Yeah. I've seen several at local flea markets and such, and they generally sit and collect dust even with price tags of like $70 to $100. I eventually picked one up for $50 and it's been sitting in my garage for a couple years, now. I think my friend picked one up a few months back for like $30.

...
I'm just messing with you, man. But I simply HAD to jump on the bandwagon of people letting you know you overpaid. But hey, it happens. Everyone here's picked up a game or system somewhere and overpaid.
Just not by $1600.

I wonder if the monitors get burn-in from the constant display of that Gameboy border that simulates the screen cover of the real thing. Probably do!
I would happily pick one of these up for $100 if it was local, just for the sheer novelty of it, and I'm not one for cluttering up my place with retail fixtures.

Are we missing a decimal point in that number or is someone really wanting FOUR THOUSAND dollars for that? Those were pretty easy to obtain on eBay a while ago.

Looks like you need to align the screen, because it isn't lining up with the opening.

Wow you must have had a bunch of free time on your hands to point out my error's in grammer. I'm not the best speller and I dont claim to be but as long as you get the point and its close enough what do I care?
In any event I know it was expensive and the first photo i posted was not one taken by me that was the person who sold it to me. It sits like it should now. I just gotta get a stand to sit it on. If anyone here is in the dallas area this piece will be on display at sgc (screwattack gaming convention) from july 3rd-5th.

I'm actually considering going to this event with a few friends. Are you going to have your own booth or are you displaying this alongside something else?

Im not sure yet. I'm going to talk to craig about it and see what I can do. Myself and our ghostbusters fan group are guests and my car (ecto hhr) will be on display. If anything I will have it hooked up by or in the rear hatch of the car for people to play but that hasnt been decided. Once i know something more solid I'll let you know. I'm gonna see what it would take to set up a booth as I have some things id like to sell.
