Alright. I want to hook up my 360 to a hi res computer moniter. I would do this using an HDMI to DVI adapter. The problem is that the moniter has no audio output. Im pretty sure that USB speakers would not work on the 360 since there wouldn't be a way to install the drivers. Do I have any other options? I'm not terribly knowledgeable about these sort of things, so any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

The official VGA cable has RCA jacks coming out of it so you can still do composite sound (i think it comes with a mini-jack 1/8th inch adapter too, but i'm not sure).

So it would recognize the video from the HDMI chord and the audio from the VGA simultaneously?

to be honest, i'm not sure the VGA cable doesn't cover up the HDMI port, i'd have to take a look.

It doesn't. Just run the audio into a receiver or something or get a phono to 3.5" cable.

I've done the VGA adapter thing, and the HDMI with and without audio - I actually used HDMI for video and optical for audio once too - it's all good as long as you have the cables.

actually man, I know what your trying to do cause I have a simular setup... instead of the monitor I have it on a projector using a hdmi to dvi cable, how I got the audio to work was like this...

have both adapters in at the same time, yes thats right, the audio video rca jack plug that comes with your xbox in at the same time as your hdmi plug...

but you say, it doesnt fit? thats right it doesnt, so take a flat head screwdriver and pop the casing off the grey box thingy at the end of the audio video rca xbox adapter...

you will notice that the actual av plug is really small, I just used a lil bit of electrical tape to go around it just to be safe even though you dont really have to...

and bam thats it... saves yourself alot of money, I read this on another forum that had pics and stuff but its really easy and Ive been running it like this for a while with no problems...

Hmm, sounds pretty good..im a bit wary of cracking open the case on the A/V cable but it seems to be my only option
