Where can I buy Sega Genesis Model 1 AV cables?

Ebay is your best bet, but watch out, some sellers have some crappy cables up for sale on there.

I got mine from estarland.

Sometimes the cables go for a lot, and I don't think you can get stereo from those anyway. It's much easier to just plain mod the genesis. PM me if you want to go that route.

EDIT: OP has a hell of a deal

Is $15 dollar a good price for sega genesis model 1 with 3 games?

Modding it just for stereo out seems excessive when you can just use the stereo out from the headphone jack. The quality mods are the region mods and the video upgrades. (The Genny 1 does S-vid out, right?)

Depends on the games. 3 Sports games.... I probably wouldn't. Toss in some Sonic games or something else, and it isn't bad. Assuming the Genesis has everything with it. 2 controllers, power supply, RF Switch/RCA cables, etc etc etc.

Yeah, I have some pics from a sale thread a while back, it looks really nice. I was just thinking of benefits the A/V cable doesn't do. The s-video might look better natively from the genny.

I recently scored an M1 and was also frustrated at the lack of a proper a/v cable, so I went ahead and did an RCA video mod as explained on this site here- http://www-unix.ecs.umass.edu/~dhowland/mod/

Works great! It sure ain't no S-Video mod, but looks stellar through a c64 / amiga monitor as opposed to a TV anyways...

One jack is for video, two are for stereo audio, and one is for mono audio. A bit excessive, but hey if I'm hooking up to a cruddy TV with only one audio input, that spares the need for an adapter.

Good luck on your hunt, percy. :)

Hyperkin will soon be making their own Model 1 AV cables. At least that's what their sales guy told me.

The manual for Sega CD model 2 shows an AV cable for Genesis model 1. It only has one audio cable for mono output.

As a matter of fact I already have the samples on my desk.:-D

They're pretty generic cables though, you're always better off with a modded Genesis 1.
