Hey all, I've got a puzzler for you.

I remember playing this old text-based adventure game on the TRS-80 model III back when I was a kid, and I'd like to find it again. I think it was called "Wizard" or something, but Google has revealed nothing.

I remember you started out dreaming, and in the dream you're being chased by wolves or something. If you go one way you step on a mine, and if you go another you can climb a tree. No matter what, you die and wake up.

I also remember that one of the spells is "Wilt", that lets you kill plants.

I was really too young to be able to understand how to play, but I still enjoyed playing it. Now that I'm older I'd like to take another stab at it. So any help in finding out what it was called, or where I could find a copy would be great.

Thanks in advance.

this sounds like it might belong to one of the "Scott Adams" adventure games - and if I'm not mistaken there were one or two other companies that churned out text adventures at a decent clip.

The best resource will probably be this site:

http://www.ifarchive.org/

anything Interactive Fiction (text adventure) will be there. Good luck!

edit - might it have been named "The Wizard of Akyrz"?

The game is Sorcerer, by Infocom.

You can play it online here: http://www.xs4all.nl/~pot/infocom/sorcerer.html

What threw me is, I can find no release of the game for the TRS-80.

YES! THAT'S IT! WOOHOO!!!

Yeah, I used to play this on my Grandfather's old TRS-80 Model III as a kid. It might not have been an "official" port, or maybe it was just low run. I'll have to dig through some of his old stuff and see if we've got the floppy. The TRS-80 is long gone, but maybe the software is still around. If I find it, I'll post a pic of the floppy.
